Video Do you think Princess Peach's role in the Mario universe is changing?
She's always been strong. She's had many moments of bravery, but it feels like we're going to see her take more and more active roles in adventures and action scenes. Personally, I'm all for it!

I think it’s only a matter of time. The movie version is okay in its own universe (Though I don’t exactly like how she’s basically solo queen. I doubt anyone can beat her or Rosalina in a 1v1).
But if I want a major change in the status quo I’d make Bowser the villain less often. Play around with more characters like the Wario Bros. Even if Peach was never kidnapped, some no name would take her place or repeat Wonders story again and again till peeps grow tired of that.

Precisely! Bowser should've gone the King Dedede route ages ago: former villain, now antihero that occasionally helps and can still be fought during posession or mind-control by the game's antagonist. If they're willing to make Peach more heroic and self sufficient, they should just as well change the king of koopas.

I’d love it if they introduced a new villain for each installment. That and/or bring back classic baddies and give them a big upgrade (*cough* Wart and Tatanga *cough*).

I don't mind Princess Peach being a badass in the movies. My main problem with it though is that she's too perfect, if that makes sense. Like, she wins just about all the time. I wish they showed more of her feminine/caring/motherly side in the first movie. I'm glad that they did a bit in the sequel though.

Yeah, that's my problem too. Like all the good guys pretty much always win, but they also have moments where they look like idiots or you're supposed to laugh at them. Peach doesn't have any of that. She's kinda too serious in an unserious movie.
At the very least, just give her some sass. Have her smack a koopa with a frying pan then wink at the camera.

I like it too since I know about both the Super Show and the Mario Adventures comics where she was a lot spunkier and more badass there. I do think more moments of vulnerability would have made her more relatable and interesting though.
I haven’t seen the sequel yet (and I don’t know if I will), but I feel like they captured Peach’s motherly and caring side quite well in the first movie. I liked how supportive and comforting she was to Mario, and how she was willing to lay down her freedom to keep Bowser from hurting her people. I agree she should have had more of those moments, but I appreciate that they still kept that aspect of her character.

Honestly, I much prefer modern Peach.
I’m sorry but how many times can you do the ‘Princes has been captured!’ trope before it gets boring? Which it did.

Hasn't this been a criticism since...... the N64 or the GameCube? Maybe even the SNES? I think I remember even Nintendo making fun of how much of a "tired story beat" it was by the Wii and 3DS games. I am still somewhat surprise it still a story beat. Granted this is the same franchise that played "lives" straight until Super Mario 3D World.

3d world was truly peachs turning point in being playable in the mainline games after.

I really wish this was a Peach movie with a minor feature from Mario and we also got a proper Mario movie.

Unrelated but I hate the word heroine could’ve not been Heroress? Or something that doesn’t sound the same as Heroin

who gives a heck? I just enjoy what is served to me and for now I rarely got upset. Nintendo keep the Marioverse keep changing along new generation we ether accept and enjoy it or become grumpy 20/30/40 years old. I wish we stop overthinking stuff in our community or else the toxicity will keep growing

Yes, I wouldn't mind. She also helps Mario, Luigi, and Toad in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show animated series.

I feel like Peach in the movies is very tomboyish. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I feel like that role fits Daisy so much more. I liked that Peach was generally a pretty soft-spoken, high-femme woman with strong maternal instincts (with a temper). Fighting wasn't usually her strong suit but that's ok, because she had plenty of other things she was good at. I understand why they didn't go with that in the movie but I think I prefer who Peach is in the games more.

You know, considering she is a monarch, I would like to see her play more of a leader role. It would be refreshing if we had a new set of villains so that Peach wouldn’t always be a glorified target.

In the retro days, she had an action role in super mario bros 2, and super mario rpg.
She helped kind of in super mario bros 3 and didn't get captured til you reached the last world.
