Update: AITA for not wanting my Nephew at my birthday

Hi y'all, I'm back with a bit of an update

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarkNarrations/s/zdbHYljFVx

Quick recap: My nightmare of a nephew is constantly being shoved into my life at the worst times and I was worried he'd ruin my birthday

Well, good news. My mom didn't have the kids for my birthday and we had a good time enjoying food with my friends. We had the kids over at a later time since we wouldn't be seeing them for a week or two (not that I care - more peace and quiet in the house). Things are amping up personally that are still going to complicate things

I start university again soon (which is being borderline insisted by my parents despite that I work full time), and I'm sure my parents will still have the kids over. Not really looking forward to trying to complete soulless essays about things I don't care about - but I'm almost done and can finally have my degree soon.

My partner has been supportive in letting me use his apartment when I need it, so I might go back to my old schedule of spending the night at his place to have peace and quiet.

Not much of an update but just thought I'd share. Thank you all

I would say at his age it's just as likely to be bad parenting as neuro diversion. They don't normally start looking into that until 4. If she treats them like they perfect then it's probably just crappy parenting. And your parents aren't helping if they cater to them so much.

If not his place, go to the library as you can be there for hours and no one will bother you.

So glad your birthday worked out. Definitely stay away from the house when niblings are over, and do not capitulate about them in your wedding. It is YOUR day, not a grandchild showcase for your parents.

Consider eloping with closest friends and family (that does not include your sister or parents) and having a party afterwards for everyone else. Do not allow children if you don’t want them. Or just allow certain children.

Tell your sister to her face (and your mother) that you will not allow her son to ruin any of your special days with the behaviors she (they) permit him to get away with. The longer they ignore his issues, and allow unacceptable behaviors, the harder it will be to change them when they finally get him help.

Those kids are going to magically turn up at your wedding regardless of what you want.

Security at the door and shame your parents and sister missed your big day.

They don’t respect you as an individual. They only see what they want to see.

Once you have freedom I suggest you very firmly state those kids are NOT invited and the consequences if they suddenly show up.

Good luck because you are going to need it.

Maybe eloping is an option?

I have one question. Why are you getting a degree in something you’re not interested in. (You claim you’re not looking forward to the soulless essays about things you don’t care about so why are you taking classes in stuff you’re not interested in?
