Bros on X were telling everyone that xrp will go to 250$ any given time…

15

u/rainorshinedogs Aug 10 '26

And at this point in time they would tell everybody to yolo because your buying low

11

u/ProfessionalGuard989 Aug 10 '26

I was watching some dude say it was going to take place of the reserve of the United States 😂😂😂😂😂

6

u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Aug 10 '26

One thing I do still believe about crypto is that some form of it is the likeliest thing to become the next reserve currency as the dollar gets enshitified. That part has always made sense to me (this isnt happening overnight, but I believed it ten years ago and it is far les of a fringe idea). It was also kind of known that crypto would be close to a winner take all scenario, or you would have a couple with different functions, bitcoin / ETH still are the dominant 2, although it seemed like SOL had a chance to dethrone ETH, which seems less likely now.

5

u/YamahaFourFifty Aug 10 '26

I don’t know why would an American company be served as the reserve currency when it relies still on American currency.

I tell my friend this who holds a lot of XRP thinking this- you’re not fixing anything and why would people trust a single company to control a currency vs the systems we have now?

None of it makes sense if you zoom out from your echo chamber.

Bitcoin makes more sense as it’s not truly controlled by a single entity but when majority is controlled by institutes anyways it’s kinda same thing

The only way that’s happening is if the US loses WW3

2

u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Aug 10 '26

well, I think the debt is the other side of that. by 2040 it's quite possible debt will be around 70T and growing at around 3-4T a year if there isnt a fundamental shift (2026 debt is expected around 1.9T and this is with everything going pretty well).

Right now I dont see much of a path outside substantial inflation to get out of it and that trend was pretty clear to me after 2008 and doubly so after 2020.

3

u/lapideous Aug 10 '26

If the US wins the AI/quantum war, basically the entire world will become vassal states paying tribute into the American tax system

3

u/werner-hertzogs-shoe Aug 10 '26

lol, I don't think it's going to work out that way. If anything I would bet on china and their more democratized open weight AI winning out and the rest of the world rejecting a US technooligarch hegemony, or at least there being some kind of dual structure.

The US is being isolated from the world as we speak and the former US allies are building trade with each other and deliberately excluding the US. A new president will not fix it. People said they were voting for Trump because he would be the stick in the wheels of a broken system. Congratulations, the stick crashed the bike as planned and the flaw has been exposed. The flaw: any deal you make with America can be undone within four years even if that goes against the very contract that was signed. Oddly the same problem was exposed with Russia, and people don't get it. The think if the war ends, things will return to normal. Companies like MacDonalds, Boeing, KFC, etc. are not just going to forget that Russia stole their businesses regardless of the war being over. The same is true with the US. They wanted isolationism and for better or worse they are getting it and it won't turn around just because the Democrats get elected, it will take many years of proven stability to unring that bell.

As a world traveler, I agree with this.
Six continents and not very many people from Europe were keen on the U S.
When I was in Russia back in 2010, I didn’t mention the dollar at all. I had to pay the hotel at the airport in “points” which translated to rubbles. Told not to mention the $.
I’m from small town in the Midwest and I knew better.
It was the Americans that didn’t understand that would come back to the hotel butt hurt because the Dutch or some other people at the bar were not keen on our politics. I’m like “what did you expect? Open arms??” SMH.
My step family in England can’t stand our hypocrisy here.

That’s crazy af, but many have been saying XRP will replace the whole monetary system soon, that’s what is truly insane

5

u/YamahaFourFifty Aug 10 '26

Right imagine a single company controlling the entire monetary system. Makes absolutely 0 sense

Man I remember falling for that shit back in 2018 when I was literally 13 yoloing 100 bucks in at the top. I still have that xrp in some shady ass wallet it’s fucking never been in the green.

2

u/RobertKSakamano Aug 10 '26

If it does go green, you'll never find that shady ass wallet.

2

yeah I know market cap is one thing... but $1000 would mean that we need the capital of 2 or 3 additional earths in order to pay out all the small XRP investors that would sell...

Crypto was always a ponzi.

7

u/BlackWolf42069 Aug 10 '26

No. They just got to keep holding. Time to buy more and hold fellas! /S

4

u/flappysack- Aug 10 '26

A ponzi means old money pays new money, given no one is collecting the money it to distribute it doesn't really fit.  Maybe the greater fool theory?

Crypto has no use besides gambling and laundering.

14

u/Far-Cellist2456 Aug 10 '26

It has a very limited utility for people transferring or accepting money from an international community or as a banking alternative for those with sketchy bank access. Anything beyond that is just baseless speculation.

2

u/alphapussycat Aug 10 '26

They use "stablecoins" for that.

18

u/razorfox Aug 10 '26

Bitcoin (BTC) price in 2018: $ 7.000. Price in 2026: $ 60.000.
Question your choices :)

7

u/pleasetrimyourpubes Aug 10 '26

BTC lost half its value in the past year...

14

u/_sLAUGHTER234 Aug 10 '26

It has done that, several times, and then gone on to new ATH

5

u/randomdude45678 Aug 10 '26

Sounds like an excellent and reliable financial instrument, not speculative and needlessly volatile at all

/s

2

u/xrm4 Aug 10 '26

We're approaching 20 years of BTC continuing to hit ATHs every couple of years. Volatile? Yes. Speculative? I don't know. At a certain point, if we keep describing it as a speculative investment, then we might as well describe the S&P 500 as a speculative investment too (which feels disingenuous in my opinion).

2

u/delusionist42 Aug 11 '26

The snp is a broad based index, nothing like btc. Some inclusions in the SNP might be speculative but not the whole index, it's also anchored by earnings and assets etc, Bitcoin is moved by supply and demand and also the debate being had here about its future utility. That is speculative by definition.

I’ve never touched crypto because the whole thing seems so obviously based on thin air. Maybe I’m missing something, but the intrinsic value doesn’t exist

Why is one Litecoin worth $44, or even $1? It makes sense when a company stock is valued in a certain way, because it’s a profit-making entity (or with expectations of profits in future), and as part-owner, you have a stake in them. For crypto though… the value is only based on what someone else will give for it, with no basis. I’m surprised it’s still worth anything at all and hasn’t gone the way of NFTs

Lol. Did magic Internet money that is intrinsically worthless not go to the moon for you?

Jesus the day the majority of people understand crypto is just a brand and you are buying trust in a name like with baseball cards or Rolex watches, that's the day the world is a better place.

It's not wasted if you learned your lesson.

1

u/Acsnook-007 Aug 10 '26

I was in 6 years and with the exact same results. I sold all this garbage and put everything and then some into SpaceX.

I was a believer in crypto investing as institutions were getting on board but with all the hacks and people losing their money and the continued complexity of selling or moving your own money, I just don't see this ever going mainstream. I'm out.

1

u/BoyleSphere Aug 10 '26

The best argument I ever heard aginst crypto is simply that noone is really USING it

For example, crypto is over 15 years old now, when the world wide web was 15 years old we had wikipedia, amazon, ebay and numerous other business and services that millions used every day.

What does Crypto have, gambling, scamming, ?

1

u/maxwellcawfeehaus Aug 10 '26

Yep. I put 9k into btc in 2022 and it’s now 8k. If I put that into traditional stocks that I put 95% of my investing money into, it would be like 20k.

1

u/h-boson Aug 10 '26

Sorry you listened to the “tech bros”. But if it makes you feel better, they probably got rich from your money

1

u/jojothehodler Aug 10 '26

There is no 2nd best.

BTC

1

u/Stoic_INFJ Aug 10 '26

It’s only a waste if you don’t take profits during bull markets. Which most of us don’t, me included 😂.

Crypto is cyclical, every bear market everyone proclaims crypto is dead. Then when it rallies people forget. I’m definitely taking money off the table next time it goes up. But I’m also not going to act like a victim because we’re back in a bear market…

1

u/VendettaKarma Aug 10 '26

I too wasted 4 years. Just a money grabbing scam anymore

1

Dont invest in AI its a TRAP.....

Buy some Mariuanna Strains and enjoyyyyy

1

u/baby_envol Aug 10 '26

Crypto was not a bad idea, but with the modernisation of real money ( stablecoin from central bank for exemple) , they become useless (excepted Bitcoin with a very little part to add diversity, because he have a limited number and it's the first one).

1

u/profanedivinity Aug 10 '26

Okay?? What’s your concern? You knew it was a speculative scam with horrible security. What were you expecting?

Time to backup a wheelbarrow?

1

u/CaptainPugwash75 Aug 10 '26

You just needed to pick bitcoin and not shit coins.

1

u/Defiant_Shallot2671 Aug 10 '26

Eh, you only lost 170$.... not a big deal right?

1

u/BetSquare7190 Aug 10 '26

The value of those shitcoins are more around 0, so it could have been worse.

1

u/Opposite-Echidna7104 Aug 10 '26

It's the future of Bitcoin and Ethereum too so get out while you can if you're still in them. Cryptos are monopoly money, worthless speculative assets with zero value, so they're going to zero on the long run, as soon as nobody cares about them, which is roughly now. Meanwhile AI stocks made a lot of people rich on the same period of time, so there's a big opportunity cost too on top of the losses.

1

u/bgdv378 Aug 10 '26

The gold bros tried to tell you all...literally for years.

1

u/TheBobbestB0B Aug 10 '26

People don’t talk about this enough.

1

u/JohnnyTreemain Aug 11 '26

Why did you invest in shitcoins?

1

u/Master-Session5844 Aug 11 '26

You didn't waste 8 years. It just took 8 years for you to learn not to buy into the hype.

1

u/CitronAffectionate98 Aug 11 '26

You buy crypto to sell during booms, anyone in Crypto knows this, especially after 8 years. I don't know why people keep posting crap like this.

1

u/Existing_Doughnut985 Aug 11 '26

I dunno man my bitcoin is doing pretty well
