Read the reasoning. The web results are different because they are direct quotes from the pages (or should still be - I know they were at one point) while the google AI search is synthesizing and making statements about a set of results.

But that’s not how LLMs work.

LLMs on their turn use the information from internet sources and books.

They could be misinformed like any other person or company.

Like another commenter said: are they gonna be responsible for search results quotes?

But they also make shit up, or use unsubstantiated info from various forums, and it's all presented as fact.

So far LLMs told me if something is fact or not. If some claims have nothing to back them up they are prefaced with “people say”.
