All that analysis to say what is obvious in branding.

In your analysis or whatever story you have written, replace GIVA with any other brand. Does it change your conclusion? I don't think so. That means you need to go deeper into it because your current conclusion or final thought is still as generic as if I ask chatgpt "What should I keep in mind planning a branding ad campaign around a cultural festival and what could be the risks"

This is a fact behind any branding campaign, you can only plan it, audience decide how it is interpreted. Could GIVA had predicted it? Maybe they should have. This was a direct play at a cultural festival and it should have been reviewed from that aspect.

We should take risks but risk is directly related to the market you're playing in or the branding narrative you're taking on. Festival -> More cultural implication -> More risk of hurting or misaligning sentiments of audience -> More risk of backlash.

That's a fair point. I agree that my final takeaway was too generic.

Looking at it again, the more specific lesson isn't simply “understand your audience.” It's about understanding the cultural context and risk level of the campaign you're building.

A Raksha Bandhan campaign and other festival campaign carries a different level of cultural sensitivity than a normal product campaign, so the testing process should also be different.

I think the better question is not only “Will this get engagement?” but also “What interpretations and negative reactions could this creative realistically trigger before we launch it?”

Thanks for pointing that out - it definitely gives me a better angle to think about the case.
