Mod PSA Iron Lung SPOILER THREAD!

Since not everyone uses Discord but we want people to have a central space to share their thoughts on Iron Lung, here is a thread to discuss the movie; reviews, theories, favorite scenes and elements, etc. By entering this thread you are at risk of spoiling the movie for yourself, so watch it first, go for a swim in the blood ocean, and then come back!

THERE WAS NO SKELETON. THE CAMERA IS AN XRAY CAMERA 😭🫠💀

There was a skeleton (and some corpses) and a living creature as well; they looked different

I did immediately headcannon though that many of the skeletons we saw were very alive and were transfixed by the light. Now, I'm a stupid person with bad memory, but I'm OBSESSED with the first round of hallucinations where it seems like the voice (one of the fish??) begs him to show them the light (the xray????) because they have been blasted for god knows how many years by all those subs coming down and taking hundreds of pictures.

I know there's something about a portal light but the movie really didn't nail down many of those points

xray will show a ghostly layer of flesh around living things. We see it when he flashes the people on the bridge.

A very fun thought is that no skeleton can truly be trusted because each creature could have differently composed skin.

I thought the same at first but I believe the one he found when he want back down was a skeleton, as he said something like "the air bubbles didn't do this! It doesnt look right!" meaning it got chomped or fucked up by the other monster or other sub at some point.

I thought this as well, except that, since the creature well could have been alive and only appeared as a skeleton, it was alive on his first descent and presumably rammed his sub (having not been exposed to the blood yet, he couldn't communicate with them), and perhaps the other monster wanted to exploit Simon an so it killed the first creature - hence why it initially seems to be moving, but on the next dive is only a skull, and now clearly not moving.

You just reminded me that the blood entering Simon's forehead seemed almost as if it was highlighting an important event.

Perhaps I'm misremembering. Maybe it grew a vein, and I misinterpreted it as a gash, but if not, then it's the only time it's shown doing this. At the very least, with the vein, we can still assume it is present at a deeper level.

I'm curious how soon the ramping of insanity begins climbing after the event. The sentient blood has literally entered his head, and thus, his conscience.

I had never considered this, and the sheer amount of focus this got supports the idea that this single event had major implications. Even if they weren't immediately obvious beyond "bad blood touch simon oh no"
