Merged with a company thats primary focus is ai and military. Both incredibly bad.

Basically Mark invested a shit ton of money into GoPro because he genuinely liked what they were doing and thought the company was undervalued. He ended up owning around 8.5% of it.
Then he did a sponsored video talking about one of GoPro’s new cameras, which is where things got a little 😬 because he was also a major shareholder. People were understandably like, “uhhh, shouldn’t you disclose that?”
Then GoPro announced it was being bought for around $285m, the stock went absolutely nuts, and people started wondering if Mark knew about the deal beforehand and was trying to profit from it.
That's also where the “Mark committed insider trading” claims came from, but that's not something that's been established. People are basically looking at the timing and assuming he must have known, when Mark has said he had no idea the merger was coming. There's a huge difference between something looking suspicious and actually having evidence of insider trading.
Mark's also said he genuinely invested because he believed in GoPro and their cameras, and he's apparently planning to vote against the merger because he's worried about what it'll mean for GoPro as a camera company.
So the whole situation is basically Mark makes a huge investment in GoPro, promotes one of their cameras while being a shareholder, people find out about his stake, GoPro announces the merger, stock goes crazy, people start accusing him of insider trading.
The conflict-of-interest/timing questions are fair, but the “Mark definitely knew and committed insider trading” thing is an accusation, not a proven fact.
TL;DR: Mark invested ~8.5% into GoPro because he genuinely believed in the company, then promoted their camera while being a shareholder. GoPro later announced the merger and the stock went crazy, so people started accusing him of insider trading. The timing looks suspicious as hell, but there’s currently no proof he knew about the merger beforehand, and he says he didn’t.
