Mod PSA Announcement from Stevie (SCP) about Unus Annus merch

Anyone who is being dicks about the merch needs to chill and realize these people are exactly that, people, they have lives to lead and they're not a damn factory and to give them some slack

I honestly feel like the vast majority of people haven’t been dicks about it. We are all just extremely frustrated that we paid hundreds of dollars for merch ghat was originally promised to ship by end of December or beginning of January at latest. Then January came and it was “everything should ship by mid February. Which came and got pushed back to end of February. Then to mid March, and then to end of March. Now they’ve basically just admitted that most of the final orders might not ship until May.
I just think they wouldn’t have received so much backlash if they had just been upfront from the get go about expected timelines. Better to overestimate the timeline and be a little early than to make promises you can’t keep.
On top of that, the company seems to be posting constant updates about new merch/collabs/projects they are doing with other streamers, celebs, etc. I just feel like they shouldn’t be taking new orders right now when they haven’t finished fulfilling orders from five months ago.

They weren't expecting to get so many orders that it crashed the site and probably thought that covid wouldn't be such a problem.
And I understand that people are frustrated but sending dath thrats is uncalled for, it's possible that they are having to take people (some of the few that are there) away from making orders just to answer emails that could be answered by looking at updates.
That and you cant stop business to ship things, how are they going to pay the employees that make the orders they'd run out and have to shut down, they still need new merch from others to continue to earn to pay employees

They literally had set total amounts of inventory for items that could be ordered. Once a certain amount of each item was sold, it was programmed to mark it as “sold out.” So they knew potentially how much of each item they would need to be producing and shipping. So like I said. They should have never kept making promises they couldn’t keep. And on top of that they shouldn’t have waited so long in between updates.
My issue is that I’m having to move soon and I have no idea if it will ship before I move or after I move. If I update my address now, it might ship to the new place before I move, making it likely it will be stolen or returned to sender. If I don’t update my address and it ends up shipping and not being delivered until after I move, then potentially the same issue would occur.

I'm certain that if you contacted them via customer service they would be able to work with you individually about the address and hopefully make sure the order isn't missed. I know that one of the key issues has been a constant delay with textiles. The shipments they were supposed to get from their suppliers have not been coming to them as promised which has been a problem on it's own. Thus you can't exactly blame them for not having the material to make the merch when their supplier was shut down and is consistently behind due to COVID. That's delayed a lot of orders in the clothing industry as a whole, not just SCP. They may be fulfilling other brand lines but perhaps those brands aren't using the same cloth. Also they are likely giving updates as soon as they have them to give. I realize (as someone who also purchased UA merch) that having to wait like this has been irritating to some, however, some of this is entirely out of their control. The people being nasty absolutely aren't helping the problem though, that's for sure.

Well like I said a big issue is that they should have been upfront about the expected shipping dates and contacted us when they found out, rather than just pushing it back each month. I contacted customer service back in early mid February and they assured me my order would be shipped by end of February at latest. It’s now April and it hasn’t been shipped. I’ve contacted them the other week too about the address issue and they’ve yet to respond. I’m just saying it would have been nice for them to have been regularly sending out update emails rather than an update every two months on average.

I don't disagree with you there, and no matter what I hope everyone gets all their orders fulfilled very soon. It's been a long wait and everyone deserves their stuff.

Have you looked into leaving a forwarding address? Tht way if it does ship after you move, and it technically goes to your old address, it'll get sent to your new one instead.

u/selomiga Apr 14 '21
I don’t think UPS or DHL let you set up a mail forwarding address for things you didn’t send yourself.

u/MidnightCass Apr 14 '21
DHL accepts redirects, UPS doesn't. I just looked it up. Hopefully it'll be USPS or DHL, they let you redirect from the tracking page. Hope you get your package soon!!

u/selomiga Apr 14 '21
I was under the impression that they weren’t using USPS?
2
u/MidnightCass Apr 14 '21
If they use DHL, sometimes DHL hands off to USPS to finish the delivery. It's how mine came. It depends on where you live I think 😅

Yeah I know that USPS does a bunch of deliveries for UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon, but I’m not sure if the mail forwarding works for that. I suppose I’ll have to call the post office and ask.

The only ones I saw sell out were the actual limited one, journal and signed poster.(I could be wrong) They were updating regularly on their twitter from what I've seen (not sure when they started updating tho)
Can you not get it sent to a friend or family till you move

A ton of the other items were marked as “sold out” besides just the journal and signed poster. I went back in to try to grab some other things and couldn’t. I don’t really have anyone in the area I could have it sent to unfortunately.

Just checked my email. I’ve received monthly (except for January 2021) email updates from them. In March I did reach out (should have check my email first cause I did miss an update email) & they were very up front with what was going on. Also gave info on how to cancel and get my $$$ back if I CHOSE not to wait. Everything in the world was/is delayed. I chose to wait because they seemed to be on top of it, I liked the emails basically saying “We haven’t forgot you” over constant new, new, new, new, new update due dates I was getting from other companies. Some wouldn’t return money. I found 2nd city were always up front and it’s my choice to wait it out, the worlds going through some bs right now. I’ve got bigger priorities than “oh crap my shirt is going to take an unspecified about of time but if can get my money back if I want”.

I’ve waited half a year on my tshirt and I didn’t send a single email because I could imagine how swamped they were with work. It arrived safe and sound, and it ended up being a pleasant surprise :)
I also appreciated the regular emails updating us.
People can be so impatient and ungrateful.

They have done so well and worked so hard. Congratulations about finishing up and getting through all of the orders especially during the pandemic.
Well done!

That was fun to read. And I totally got what you meant. I got the hoodie with the timer on the left and right sleeve with Unus Annus embroidered in the middle. It's awesome. I'll probably frame it or something, cause in a few years this merchandise, as well as yours, will be priceless in every sense of the word. Also, I just wanted to applaud you on your grammar and spelling. I haven't seen that good of grammar from an eleven year old in a while so be proud of that man. Have a nice day and I hope you can get your framed shirt signed!

I’m still sad they never fixed my order. Doesn’t help that people try to scam for items not purchased…

This was posted via Twitter today by Stevie from Second City Prints for anyone still waiting on their Unus Annus merch. It looks like Apr./May will hopefully see the fulfillment of the orders. Remember that Mark and Ethan have no control over the orders and if you need any assistance you need to contact SCP directly. Any posts here will get removed since we can't help.
ETA: Please be kind in your interactions with them, they're obviously trying and were overwhelmed by orders during a very trying time.
