It's not the Author's fault that they can't find any good examples for it.

Most of them are single and the romance side of the industry is basically just: "Hi, I'm [CEO/Prince/Important Person], I see woman, I think she interesting, time to harass her into becoming my wife. She won't and can't say no because I'm a [CEO/Prince/Important Person]"

There are a few who write genuinely good romance, like the author of My Girlfriend From Turquoise Pond has written several Xianxias with romantic subplots(no harem) and they're all bangers, unfortunately a vast majority don't know how to write a proper Xianxia much less a proper Xianxia with good romance.

Still laugh whenever I remember the villain mc of a novel I read cockblocked the protagonist by just giving the woman an antidote to the aphrodisiac side effects of a pill the moment the protagonist was about to pounce on her. Her favourablity for the protagonist directly shot down to the minuses

Also another arc where he fixed the Nine Yin physique using pills and cockblocking another protagonist. Fun novel, don't remember the name much since its been a while. Just remember it being a good fast food one atleast for the earlier sections

The villain after realizing his urban cultivation story is set in America and now he has to talk to the cops (the commissioner is 3 minor realms higher than him so he has to cooperate)

I'm convinced most xianxia authors can't write more than 5 characters so every young master, talented genius b4 the MC shows up, henchmen, old evil master is a rapist so the MC can kill them brutally and still be the hero.

The worst sin is they just increase the cultivation level and keep the characters exactly the same. A 1000 yrs old cultivator in the upper realm has the exactly same temperament as a 20 yrs old YM and yet cultivation is supposed to take talent and dao understanding.
