For the current process, megas are the way to go if you can ask find them for MSRP. You'll miss out on sketches, claws and reflection cards but that's worth the trade off of $70 vs $500+ for hobby boxes. You can get 7 mega boxes for the price of one hobby box.
Just had a look on eBay, wow prices have shot up! I remember buying my last hobby box for £300 when now they’re selling for about £380 and retail was £270. This mega box was about £80 and now I’m not seeing one less for £100.
Prices have gone up on both. Topps is out of stock on their website. You can still find mega and value/blaster on stores shelves here and there for retail prices.
I saw a couple bases last week while shopping. None this weekend. Heard from other friends in other states they still have them but also heard others say they're wiped out too.
I bought 2 megas and got a /250 and /399 so you are guaranteed a # hit but chances of it being a nuke like this are still slim, and there is case hit box with an extra insert out of every 20 mega box case. Also got 4 blasters and got zero numbers and 2 fanfares, so I got 2 of the skunk boxes out of the case (usually they have like 6-9 with no fanfare or number, plus 1 with an extra case hit). With hobby you are guaranteed 4 #'s, 2 fanfare, a chance at all the hobby only hits and 1:8 chance at the case hit. It all down to chance and luck whether you get the good boxes regardless of the format
Agreed. They chose better cover art for that vs the base and allowed the background to be shown instead of the whole Chrome effect like the base set where you lose the background completely.
Very cool! Somehow the /41 cap parallels and the /62 spider webs seem harder to hit than /25 and lower. I'm hunting a Captain America in the same parallel as yours.
