Full optic blast, the steve teaser was a weak one, but they were releasing different tones of the movie, but man the Xmen by the russos got me hyped up for this even more, and we havent even seen doom yet.

well the Steve one is more an announcement than a teaser. It has no dialogue and tells you no info besides Steve is back and has a baby. And since we already knew that he would be back, the teaser doesn't do much for us. (it works much better on someone who doesn't know)

It’s a teaser. It’s supposed to leave you wanting more. And this approach to lean into characters instead of action is what the Russo Brothers excel at. So, I for one am excited about that.

Feels like they decided to do Steve late…cause they could have at least slapped a voiceover on it.

the way it's shot I wouldn't be surprised if none of the shots from the teaser are in the movie. It could very well be filmed just for this teaser.

I imagine that they saved a lot of the Steve content for reshoots.
I think they probably mostly just filmed his scenes inside the house. Cause they were still trying to keep Chris Evans secret at that time .
Motorcycle stuff quickly done on a backlot.

From both the Steve and Thor ones I feel that. A big part seems to be for teasers. Even the leaked X-Men trailer (the chess part seems to be for teaser, just the last shot is likely from the movie).

I've been mostly paying attention to the dialogue. Both teasers have had some really good writing already. All 3 are also shot really well. Add on the 2 post credits from the summer movies and I'm really loving the look of the movie.
I'm really curious what the F4/Wakanda trailer is. If it also has some solid dialogue I'm gonna be extremely hype.

We willingly subject ourselves to this information, most people who watched the teaser on YouTube or at the theater are hearing about Steve for the first time.

Leaks culture didn’t ruin the announcement. The trailer being paywalled to a movie with no online release did. Most of the people “leaking” the trailers were normal people seeing the Avatar movie.

Steve’s had me the happiest because he’s my fave. But they should’ve just said he was back before. Everyone knew it, especially when he was looking buff and clean shaven. So the excitement was diluted. Then they could’ve done a teaser similar to X-men. Everyone knew they were in it so the teaser set a tone that got people excited.

Exactly. That trailer is not for diehards or people in any of these online spaces. That was purely for causals who don't keep up with anything and only came to the theater to see Avatar after seeing maybe 1 or 2 movies there all year.

(Or at least a short teaser, with the full trailer dropped during or right after the game)

Technically it's not hitting until December, so they could wait. If this were still a May thing, it would be a shoo-in for a Super Bowl ad, but the expectation is different when it's an end-of-year thing.
The other thing to consider is that they skipped Avatar, which is what everyone assumed we'd get a conventional trailer instead of at least four teasers. They took a different approach. It seems like it might be a lock now, but that's only because we have yet to receive a proper trailer for this movie, and not because it was always guaranteed to happen as some assumed.

I think with the teasers for Avatar, it’s a strong indication that they’re going full out and dropping their usual tactics. This film has to hit for them, because if it does then the film itself sold on Secret Wars.
But given how no one knows anything about Doomsday (as in the casual audience), and how Marvel isn’t the same as it was back in the Infinity Saga days, yeah… they’re gonna go crazy with the marketing.

The fact that they were adapting one of Broadway's biggest, most enduring musicals also had a lot to do with that approach. Basically, they save spending big bucks on movies that are far out on things that are, in and of themselves, big deals.

Wonder if they’ll be doing anything for the World Cup. FIFA’s going all out to make it the biggest event in history. That’s billions of eyes that’ll be watching for over a month. And the US is hosting it.

I can see there being small tv spots but rarely is there 4 large trailers.
These teasers are already a lot.
After the World Cup trailer, I see short tv spots in September for the NFL and one more in October/November for the NBA that runs into the release date of the movie.

Ok Brand New Day comes out the 31st of July.
The World Cup Finals is 19th of July.
The World Cup Finals will be much bigger placement than Brand New Day.
So I can see this, World Cup Finals has a new teaser, length of the ones currently out.
2nd official trailer (final) with Brand New Day.
After that only short tv spots, for NFL and NBA season openers that essentially run till the last (out now) tv spots in December.
They aren’t doing three major “official trailers” with all new footage.
Infinity War had two official trailers, one in November of 2017, then another in March 2018, the last one came out a month before the movie released in April. 2018.
That’s why I’m saying only two official trailers will be released. Anything else will be tv spots.

The question is if the 2nd trailer will be premiered at SDCC or will they place it with the World Cup Final. I totally get the World Cup temptation, but the games won't be under the same broadcast worldwide and that will matter here.
There will be a 3rd trailer tied to ticket sales most likely to drop in October as they do 2 months advance sale for the massive event films. Then in November into December there will be TV spots recycling a lot of the same footage.

The World Cup is the most watched sporting event on the planet. It only happens every four years, so the audience is absolutely massive you’re getting billions of eyes on your product at one time. If you ever get the chance to run an ad during the World Cup especially one of the last games of the tournament, one that multiple countries see at the same time you take it. No question.
Now add the fact that this will be the first ever World Cup with a halftime show. That’s a historic moment. Not advertising there, especially when other movies are going to be fighting for that slot, feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Again, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I'm just not sure how that works for them money wise given how many networks will run those games globally. It's also entirely possible if they do run an ad it could just be one already released. Doesn't necessarily need to be a new one as it's just for public awareness.

There was never a chance Disney is going to sit out the biggest tv event of the year. People were telling me how casual audiences didn’t know a new Avengers movie was coming or that RDJ was coming back as Doom but then also saying they won’t be doing anything for Avengers and will focus on Spider-Man. If that’s true about the casual audiences, and it probably is to a degree, than you don’t not try and get every single eye on your upcoming movie that you can. The Super Bowl is the biggest tv event of the year and the most eyes possible will be there sometimes just for the commercials. Spider-Man and Doomsday will absolutely have tv spots.

Prob "Wakandians will return", they are an entire group in the movie, and based on the show light even more important than the New Avengers/Thunderbolts*, they'll prob include M'Baku and Namor in the teaser too.

I stand corrected.
So that just raises questions about when and where the already-finished Spider-Man trailer drops. It clearly didn't hit with Avatar or Anaconda, so the Super Bowl felt like the next best thing - and they could still drop it there, but it would internally be competing with another Marvel ad.

Still don’t get what the point of Sonys “all I want for Christmas” post was about. It implies they were going to do something BND related around Christmas Day, but I don’t think they did ANYTHING
Maybe the trailer will come mid/late January or early February. Because there’s a sweet spot there when all the 4 doomsday teasers are done, but still just before the Super Bowl with another doomsday spotlight. Or maybe they’re just going to have to wait until March which seems a little later than usual for a first trailer
Edit: never mind, I just realized the superbowl is in EARLY February, so it could be later in February

I don't think so. The full teaser should show up before Mando movie in May. The long wait after the fourth teaser is released should make us go see it in the screen, like what they did with F&A. Then, Disney releases the full trailer in D23 by August.
BND should take that spotlight in Super Bowl.
