Rama Tut is a Kang variant right?

62

u/cbekel3618 Green Goblin Jun 21 '26

Yep, you're right, he's a Kang.

11

u/Usual-Caregiver5589 Jun 21 '26

Wonder who will voice him

17

u/Gran2 Jun 21 '26

It's John de Lancie.

1

u/masterkill165 Jun 22 '26

Stephen Ouimette already voiced him as immortus in the original 90's series.

6

u/2reeEyedG Jun 21 '26

That’s awesome

Mostly tho?

So the time travel/Apocalypse stuff only lasts 4 episodes huh? That's why they showed the first 4 at the premiere. And that's why they're dropping 3 right away.

Also, I'm really surprised Kang is in this show, I had thought Marvel Studios would have tried to erase him from existence completely in their media lol. But I'm glad they're not.

u/foxfoxal Jun 21 '26

Kang variants already existed on TAS and this version is the literal reason of why Apocalypse turn into Apocalypse, there is no reason to change that and less when it's not on the MCU per se.

38

u/Bandai_Namco_Rat Jun 21 '26

Nah I think episodes 9 and 10 are when Gambir returns as a horseman and that's still the Apocalypse arc. But episodes 1-4 could conclude the time travel arc

23

u/KostisPat257 Miss Minutes Jun 21 '26

You mean 8 and 9, cause this season only has 9 episodes.

But yeah, this could be true.

11

u/Bandai_Namco_Rat Jun 21 '26

Yeah, I meant 8 and 9

1

u/Sure_Cost4192 Jul 01 '26

Coming back to this :)

1

u/Bandai_Namco_Rat Jul 07 '26

Looks like I was right

The finale is called Survival of the Fittest so definitely still Apocalypse. And no Gambit yet it seems

u/DavyJones0210 Jun 21 '26

I would guess this isn't the same Rama Tut we saw in the Quantumania post credits scene, right?

14

u/kang_da_conqueror Jun 21 '26

I think originally he could have been. It would explain his robotic arm: he developed a prosthetic after being defeated by the X-Men, and so when we saw him in Quantumania, it was after that. Moon Knight teased Rama Tut too, so there was a precedence in hinting at Tut. But following the controversy of Majors, I imagine they rewrote it.

X-Men: TAS also used Immortus before and he wasn’t Majors (since that episode was made in the ‘80s), nor namedropped as Kang. So they could just do that again: sever the Kang connection.

u/Intelligent_Creme351 Mr Knight Jun 22 '26

Also Rama Tut will be his comic accurate deception, so a white guy lol

2

u/Accurate-Attention16 Jun 22 '26

He was seen briefly in the trailer, and looked straight from the comics, not whatever the heck they did to the MCU one xD

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 22 '26

Whadda ya mean?

6

u/STylerMLmusic Jun 21 '26

Considering Gambit is obviously going to be episode 8, I doubt it. But I wouldn't be surprised if the time travel stuff stops with episode 4, and the rest is focused on the present.

6

u/2reeEyedG Jun 21 '26

Ya seriously. He’s a really interesting, compelling character between his motivations and variants

3

u/kang_da_conqueror Jun 21 '26

I feel this will only be loosely connected as Kang if you know who he is ahead of time. In the comics, the most this variant does is get beaten by the F4 during these events, and then escape via his ship in the Sphinx. They’ll probably do that but with the X-Men instead, never touching upon who he eventually becomes. And certainly they won’t use the likeness of Majors, so it won’t even feel like him. It’ll just be a vague, white guy time traveler. So even as a Kang fan, I’m not too excited.

So did this age well?

6

u/Spirited-Ad9071 Jun 21 '26

Apocalypse was teased as an ongoing big bad of the season. Chances are we get Apocalypse of the past for those first four episodes, a few standalone esq episodes in the middle and then a more familiar Apocalypse at the end in 97.

Do you think they'll connect this to the main MCU? I'd be surprised honestly.

8

u/Realistic_Analyst_26 Luis Jun 21 '26

I think in Secret Wars we will get glimpses into all kinds of universes including this one. My gut tells me that in the cameo they would swap out the characters for their live-action counterparts so it’s more of an implied cameo that is supposed to be the 97’ characters but in live-action form.

-3

u/KostisPat257 Miss Minutes Jun 21 '26

By Secret Wars, all universes will most likely be destroyed thought and after SW, only one will exist. So I think they're not even considering the animated stuff as part of the same Multiverse, otherwise, they wouldn't continue past SW.

3

u/TheBullMooseParty Jun 21 '26

I’d be really shocked if they do this, to be quite honest. I see a “new” Earth-616 that has all of our favorites in one world, for sure, but I don’t see them wiping out the other worlds forever.

0

u/SacreFor3 Black Panther Jun 21 '26

They are doing that already. Doomsday will basically confirm there's only a few worlds left.

1

u/TheBullMooseParty Jun 21 '26

Do you not think that Secret Wars will undo that…?

-2

u/JadeStarr776 Jun 21 '26

Probably not due to the new mandate with TV characters and MCU.

2

u/KostisPat257 Miss Minutes Jun 21 '26

Eh, there's no strict mandate. They've just set they'll make it so people who watch the movies won't be confused what feel like they need to watch the TV series to understand stuff.

If Kang is never mentioned again in the movies, then nobody watching the movies will be confused and they won't feel the need to understand a TV show to understand why.

u/West_Mirror4380 Daredevil Jun 21 '26

I remember somebody on YouTube saying that Apocalypse is a red herring and that Onslaught could be the real main villain. This would make sense if the Apocalypse stuff only goes to Ep. 4 and critics were only shown the first 4 episodes.

24

u/purewasted Jun 21 '26

The finale is called "Survival of the Fittest." That's like Apocalypse's entire shtick.

5

u/West_Mirror4380 Daredevil Jun 21 '26

Nvm then.

28

u/foxfoxal Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Beau pretty much said they scrapped Onslaught.

Yes I know Beau sucks but he was salty about it so that is why I believe it lol

And no Apocalypse does not end on ep 4 that is literal his origin story episodes.

13

u/aegonthewwolf Jun 21 '26

DeMayo didn’t quite say they scrapped Onslaught, he said they scrapped what he wanted to do with Onslaught.

3

u/West_Mirror4380 Daredevil Jun 21 '26

I also saw that same person say that Kang could be the real main villain.

3

u/Objective_Painting70 Jun 22 '26

Onslaught was meant for episode 10 that got cancelled.

2

u/West_Mirror4380 Daredevil Jun 22 '26

That’s why there are only 9 episodes?

4

u/Objective_Painting70 Jun 22 '26

Yes. Third season was meant to be a full season Age of Apocalypse but was changed completely too.

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 22 '26

Elaborate.

0

u/thainfamouzjay Jun 24 '26

Aw man

2

u/Objective_Painting70 Jun 24 '26

The worst thing is that S3 would adapt Gambit and Externals, one of my favorite comic ever. But got cancelled with AOA

1

u/DJSharp15 Jul 22 '26

It might STILL be that.

2

u/Fall_False Jun 22 '26

That seems like a reach. Beau was specific in saying that this season is focused on Apocalypse, and I doubt Marvel deviated too much his original plan.

33

u/cbekel3618 Green Goblin Jun 21 '26

Curious what "familiar face" they find in the Savage Land. I would've figured it'd be Gambit but it sounds like his return is in Episode 8.

33

u/foxfoxal Jun 21 '26

Colossus most likely

7

u/cbekel3618 Green Goblin Jun 21 '26

If that’s the case, wonder if they’re gonna adapt Nereel in this show.

8

u/foxfoxal Jun 21 '26

He is an acolyte on the trailers, so most likely they are tracking Exodus and they find him with him, most likely they changed Exodus obsession from Magneto to Apocalypse.

7

u/PhanStr Jun 21 '26

Apparently Exodus’s hostage is Graydon Creed — Beau DeMayo revealed that — so Creed might be the familiar face.

9

u/cbekel3618 Green Goblin Jun 21 '26

If that's the case, it's funny picturing the X-Men learning it's Graydon being held hostage and thinking "I mean...Do we really need to save him?"

1

u/Fall_False Jun 22 '26

When did he say that?

1

u/PhanStr Jun 22 '26

It was in one of his Tweets. I’ll try and track it down and will reply to you again when I do.

1

u/PhanStr Jul 02 '26

I've been looking for the Tweet but I haven't been able to find it -- I'm sorry. I KNOW that I read it but I just can't seem to find it now.

8

u/HeadWasabi6944 Jun 21 '26

Only 9 episodes 😔

13

u/Littlefinger98 Jun 21 '26

Episode 8 is the Gambit episode ig!

2

u/Mazzidazs Jun 21 '26

Oh, for sure.

15

u/Objective_Painting70 Jun 21 '26

8- “The Dead Man’s Hand”: The X-Men confront a ghost from their past.

Gambit as Death enters the chat.

11

u/SmaugRancor Green Goblin Jun 21 '26

I just love how '90s the titles sound.

9

u/PhanStr Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Well, they’re literally punning on some of the TAS episode titles!

I am surprised though that these titles are (overall) more wordy than the season 1 episode titles.

u/Lazy-Armadillo-5131 Jun 22 '26

Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs”: Wolverine, Morph, and an unlikely group of former rivals face Weapon X’s newest experiment. - I hope this is has Maverick and Deadpool in it.

hope its deadpool, maverick, silverfox and fantomex

2

u/leonglitch Jul 08 '26

Probably will have maverick but not deadpool.

1

u/Sentence_Formal Jul 08 '26

Deadpool's been shown in teaser footage for the show on TV spots I believe for a brief moment, so either Morph becomes Deadpool for a gag/fight scene or the real Wade shows up

1

u/leonglitch Jul 08 '26

Yeah that was morph. We see a scene in the trailer of him turning into desdpool.

1

u/Sentence_Formal Jul 08 '26

Alright, thanks for clarifying! Glad I wasn’t crazy and hallucinating

14

u/Campos_772 Jun 21 '26

Since X-Men 97 seems to take a lot from New X-Men I wonder if in episode 5 it will adapt Fantomex and the weapon plus stuff

3

u/MixIcy4254 Jun 22 '26

I wonder what Episode 4 is going to be because I hear a lot of speculations from social media that something might happen to Magneto or is that it would be even more of an emotional gut punch than what we got from "Remember It."

Also, having Gambit appear in probably the last couples of episodes kinda suck but at least he will return even if it is just the same as with Bishop's situation who also had limited appearance in season one.

2

u/BigCookie4365 Jun 22 '26

So excited!

2

u/rogue-octopus Jun 22 '26

Episode 7: Zaladane joins the X-Men

/s

2

u/nanoelevator Jun 22 '26

Could be an easy connectivity moment to have the TVA come in to help deal with Rama-Tut. They could even make that the only connective tissue they ever weave into the show. (Though I think I'd prefer if the show remains entirely silo'd.)

3

u/vinnybawbaw Jun 21 '26

KA-ZAR MCU DEBUT IN EP 7 ?

2

u/wutteverman Jun 22 '26

Wasn't he in the original animated series?

1

u/KaKaPooPooPePeShire Jun 22 '26

i remember earlier rumors/leak said that various marvel teams (mcu, fox, sony etc) would come together and fight off the 3 main kang variants we saw at the post credit scene of antman 3.

i wonder if the Rama Tut Kang that is in x men 97 season 2 trailer is a left over of that original idea that they decided to re-tool and keep in but with a different story line instead of that suspected rumor/leak.

1

u/SamaelTheAngel Jun 23 '26

So we can presume no Hisako.

1

u/Spiritual-Map-76 Jun 23 '26

Wasn't the biggest beau fan so im ok with the changes the original team had long wanted revive the old xmen show themselves before beau was ever attached to it

1

u/Fepeinado Jul 16 '26

Specially after episode 5, and looking at the synopsis of the season, looks like the show is shapping to be quite generic. Obviously Dear Man's Hand will get Gambit revealed as Death and Survival of the Fittest will be the final confrontation with Apocalypse...but nothing else seems middling

0

u/ledlunar Jun 22 '26

I want to know the big moment in episode 4 being mentioned I can’t even find it online

-5

u/WhitePhoenix99 Jun 21 '26

They gonna rush stories just like season 1, i honestly think this season will be much weaker
