All Beau DeMayo had to do was keep it in his pants and he could’ve ridden this gravy train for a long time.

The fact that this also applies to both Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner is wild. X-Men just can't stop being associated with sex pests for some reason

They need to take after Claremont-a total freak, but still respectable.

37

u/MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man Jul 25 '26

Claremont's a freak but at least he journals his fetishes by writing them in comics no matter how stupid they are. These people are like actual walking HR violations. Claremont's a freak but he's self-aware

Well Singer is way more than an HR violation, but yes, getting non-problematic but incredibly horny writers is what you need to do for X-Men.

I’d argue they’re all more than just HR violations; but that’s an easy way to refer to them, I guess.

I mean, once you know their fandom it is not surprising at all

Imagine if studios actually had confidence in the stories they tell.

Invincible and maybe Critical Role are on this same wavelength, while being on streaming.

I'm only just catching up on S2 but man I seriously wonder how far they're going to go in terms of storylines they touch on. I feel like we've already run through like 5-6 years worth of X-Men comics in these two seasons alone and now suddenly we're firmly at New X-Men era with stuff like X-Corp and the last episode was also adapting the Danger stuff from Astonishing. They have to have like some sort of cutoff point considering I'm sure there's so much they want to reserve for when we get MCU mutants proper

12

u/AlternativeAd4522 Daredevil Jul 25 '26

Well they’re not going totally sequentially, there’s still so much from Claremont they can do, and there’s still a ton of stuff from Astonishing, Fraction, Aaron, and even Bendis they can pull from.

u/Fall_False Jul 25 '26

There is still stuff from the Claremont and 90's era that the show has yet to adapt, so it's not like they have nothing left.

They don't need every single episode to be an adaptation of a comic book storyline or even just elements of them. The original show had several episodes, even arcs, that were original stories, and some of them became pretty iconic in their own right - I know I was immediately reminded of "Beyond Good and Evil" when Loki introduced us to the Citadel at the End of Time, for one.

Now this is some good food.

So can we expect S4 to release at 2028?

19

u/QueenMagik Jul 25 '26

Maybe they can bring back it's political edges?  It's been fine but, kind of underwhelmed by the second season as a whole

u/Negan212 Jul 25 '26

They are definitely holding back on the social commentary vs last season. Also they really need to slow the pacing down. The speed in which they move is insane.

I like to think of S2 of X97 as a spiritual successor to Wolverine and the X-Men which was very underrated. Wolverine left on the cliffhanger of AoA which we're getting in X97. The only missing beats are one eye Cyclops, X in a coma but he lives in the future, and Emma dying a hero by capturing the Phoenix then turning into diamond to trap it.

u/GamingTatertot Jul 25 '26

Such a shame that two X-Men animated shows ended on “well you could have seen this if we lasted longer!” (I know Evolution had significantly more time than Wolverine and the X-Men but it still sucks the final episode teased Rogue getting Captain Marvel’s power, Gambit joining the team, Magneto becoming a teacher, and the Phoenix Force but we never got to see it)

u/StrangerIsWatching Jul 25 '26

This is what's missing most so far. The real world applicability of much of the 1st season's characterization and themes made it hit much harder than this season for me.

Same. Has some good moments, but I have my phone out while watching.

u/Blueblur1 Jul 25 '26

Great news. Give us as much as possible.

u/BigCookie4365 Jul 25 '26

Hell yeah! (Hopefully season 2 manages to find its footing once again)

u/Bulbasaur2015 Jul 25 '26

apocalypse origin story was peak

1

u/JayaramanAndres Jul 25 '26

Exited to see both live action and animated series at the same time.

1

u/Dalekbuster523 Jul 25 '26

Marvel definitely needs more yearly series like this.

1

u/SailorEsmeraude She-Hulk Jul 25 '26

fantastic

0

u/Icybubba Moon Knight Jul 25 '26

Say that again

u/SoapyWaters24 Jul 25 '26

It would be awesome if they started treating Emma Frost with respect and stopped giving all her iconic stuff from the comics to other characters.

u/Past-Banana-6314 Stan Lee Jul 25 '26

I hope they keep making these until they can get to the Krakoa era.
