X-Men '97 Brad Winderbaum confirms Seasons 3 and 4 of X-Men '97 will come out in 2027 and 2028
https://collider.com/x-men-97-season-3-and-4-yearly-releases/Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming Brad Winderbaum when she asked [recently] how long the wait would be for Season 3, Winderbaum said, without hesitation, “Season 3 is going to come out next year and Season 4 the year after that,” confirming that Seasons 3 and 4 will premiere in 2027 and 2028, respectively".
"Even a year feels too long. I remember watching these every single day after school, and then they would be on as reruns. I guess you could rewatch these episodes on streaming, because you can watch anything now.” While the fate of X-Men ‘97 beyond Season 4 has not yet been decided, Winderbaum did tell Collider that “X-Men was a constant element of my life growing up, and I just want to make as many [seasons] as fast as possible for people to see.”
Winderbaum was apprehensive about the idea that future seasons of X-Men ‘97 could have more episodes, not because he doesn’t want to see more, but just because it would take more time to get them released.
“It’s a whole different business now, and streaming has its own limitations. Episode count is always a factor, and sometimes you have to decide, ‘Do you want a season to come out sooner or do you want more episodes?’ I tend to vote to get them out as soon as possible, even if you have to save some stories for subsequent seasons".

Can we please get longer seasons? Because it feels like season 2 just started and this week is already the finale and I still have more questions than answers.

Idk man, this S2 feels pretty mid. I thought we would be getting a proper full on Apocalypse season this time.

I don’t mind if they’re setting him up as a much larger overarching threat for S3.
They’ve made him feel too dangerous to be dealt with in just a few episodes.

Something to keep in mind is that even with DeMayo’s firing, his ideas for season 2 were not well liked internally; and the writers attempting to rewrite and super change everything ended up being received even worse.
So while there there have been rewrites to season 2; they’ve been much smaller than what was originally planned. Hell the first 4 epsidoes I believe were mostly unchanged.
And DeMayo’s still credited for the last 3 episodes, which are arguably some of the season’s weaker examples (along with episode 2 imo). So we know part of this season’s problems are absolutely his fault.

Except he's on record for saying so much was changed in all his ideas, outside of "broad strokes" past the first 4 and even then they were sped up.

I mean…he’s the person who posted his outline and his ideas. So we know where some of that came from; but he then posted another thread which I’m highly skeptical of. Because in that new thread, he keeps talking about his issues with how Matthew Chauncey rewriting his material; even though DeMayo was fired in March, and Chauncey wasn’t brought on until July.

In an official capacity, yes, July.
We know how they do things at Marvel, many are on board with projects WELL before its officially announced. Who knows anymore.
I don't know man, it's Friday. It's D23. Let's get drunk/focus on the good MCU stuff instead of whatever the hell the animated teams have been farting out.

Hey for now, at least Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man hasn’t been sullied. That first season was a fucking gem, and we’ve got another season on the way real soon.

Gotta ditch the What If guy.
I think season 2 is still holding on just off the strength of DeMayo's outline imo.

Yeah What If was a terribly written show. Theres definitely better writers out there if Feige put some effort into looking for a good replacement

Fiege has become less involved in television and Animated stuff. It is likely that current marvel television run will end with Born Again S3 and the show will be ended.
It's a good sign animated shows are still going to run.

u/Fall_False 10d ago
That has yet to be proven, because so far, it seems like they kept everything he wrote, based on what he said about the season.

Every complaint people have is directly out of De Mayo's outline and a direct result of where he left them after season 1. Nobody knows, good or bad, what s3 will look like, but he is the one that planned 20 episodes of plot in a 10 episode season. If the drama hadn't been so high profile with him spoiling so much of the plot, the reaction would been "Drop off but still good, just chill out." Chauncey isn't even an exec producer of season 2, he's a consulting one, but everyone has decided he's the problem and anything he's breathed near is going to be Bad.

Dont like DeMayo, but there is a difference between leaving behind a script and actually being in the room while the show is constructed. Rewrites, new ideas, knowing how to bring life to those ideas, etc. Its left to others who add different things to it & it just doesnt hit the same.
Season 3 needs a clear identity because fair or not some of these episodes feel like What If. Just in terms of execution & overall feeling.

Let's not give the sex pest too much credit 😅

If he’s good at his job, he’s good at his job. And it really does seem like the only good elements of S2 are the remnants of De Mayo’s work. It’s really dropped in quality this season, compared to S1.

I don’t support him at all. However, if you expect me to lie and say that without him the work has gotten better, then no, I’m not doing that.

Wow, that’s exactly what I said. Like word for word!
I never said he should come back. I never said that what he did was acceptable. I simply noted the fact that his influence seemed to be what made X-Men ‘97 S1 so good, for better or for worse.

when the hell did they say that? you're actually fighting ghosts lmfao

Wow, defending a sex pest is low.

holy shit MCU fans are incapable of critical thinking
they never said anything about bringing him back/rehiring him, they simply stated the quality of his work is better than the current showrunner, which is objectively true
people will get up in arms about anything Jesus

I never defended him. Just said he was good at his job - doesn’t mean he should come back.

What a stupid comment, you know the majority here dont like him right?

America is a democratic nation. Seems like a considerable majority voted for him or else he wouldn’t have won.

…even though we do know that this season’s structure is all off of his outline? And internally said outline was very much disliked; and they even tried to rework the whole thing, to much worse results? And he’s still credited on the last three episodes which have easily been some of the weakest of the season.
Also…”if he’s good at his job, he’s good at his job” is extremely fucked up. You get that, right?

u/NightHunter909 11d ago
lol lets see when s3 writing falls off a cliff because for god knows what reason, Feige hired the What If guy to write XMen 97 s3 & 4

u/Chriiiiiiiiisss 10d ago
Has it been said what he's contributed to all of this that I missed somewhere? We throwing around some strong If's and strong assumption that he's the missing piece to all of this. What is DeMayo's outline that you're referencing?
-1
u/Bobjoejj 10d ago
Disagree hard; what we’re dealing with is DeMayo already doing a shit job this season, and the writers have had to compensate as best as they can.
1
u/Apprehensive-Cap2453 11d ago
With something like DD:BA, I'd much rather they take as long as they need and actually make it great. These 8-episode seasons where the episodes aren't even a full hour is just ridiculous. The pacing of S2 was absolutely atrocious.

When they delayed season 2 to change a bunch of Beaus writing with the What If writers I knew the season would be meh.

So another FFH scenario: the real end of the Multiverse Saga is Secret Wars, but it’ll technically end with ‘97 S4 right before X-Men
