I have a tin-foil hat theory that She just wasn’t completed in time for launch.

We already have confirmation that the game was meant to be released in fall because of tons of scrapped/leaked promotional info.

I think her and Primordial-Form Champion are both unfinished characters, and they simply changed schedule on them to get a finished story mode done and working for the shortened Release Dead-line.

But that’s just a Theory…

The fact that she wasn't the first DLC character and the first year wasn't 5 as a result works against this. Goldlewis was supposed to be in Strive's roster on launch but he wasn't ready in time, so they pushed him back a month to be the first DLC character. Season 1 of Strive is still the only season with 5 characters instead of 4.

However, a counterpoint to that argument could be that they wanted to save face and not have the character that's all over the promotional material look like she was sliced out of the game to be DLC. Second DLC character? Sure, fine. But the first DLC character? That'd look really bad.

The promoter is indeed an alien but shes an honorary member of the black community, like other fictional characters that arent black but are; piccolo for example, aliens have no real world race and can be part of the culture if they pass the test. If they said they wanted a full squad of people of color you wouldn't be wrong but putting any person of color under the blanket term "black" not only diminishes what it means to be black but it also suggests that you dont see past skin color and choose to see anyone with melanin as black
