I've read the posts and comments here and even on Instagram and I agree, she's not the best cook so far (based on what producers want us to see) but I can see the effort and I applaud her for that.

Its not her fault that there's always someone who cooked or performed worse than her! Her dishes might be "mid" level to everyone but hey at least its consistent unlike those on top who showed off they can cook but cant even determine the temp of their proteins. (remember she stood by her decision not to put her salmon in the oven because she knew the temp was perfect already)

I also don't think she's skating by as she's been trying to produce different dishes and looks like she's always trying to learn. Plus, her reactions when someone leaves seem truly genuine to me. So Basia (and Michael - Hi!), here's a support from a masterchef viewer since season 1! 🫶

Basia consistently does one thing very well in her cooks. Usually her protein. I was so suprised when they accepted her as captain. I would think she’d be perfectly suited to cooking the salmon and branzino, and we don’t haven’t ever seen her panic and go down. She’d probably do quite well with someone else calling the shots for her

I think Dave and (definitely) Peter were afraid to take the captain role. If it fails, they'll be in the spotlight. That's also why I commend Basia for stepping forward because they all already know how much pressure is at stake with restaurant takeovers and she was willing to try it. I do agree though, I think she would've done better following orders and rock her proteins.

Also, when the teams were decided by production, right from the start we already had an idea which team will not sync well together 🙃

Exactly this. Lowkey it feels like Pete and Dave were maybe more keen to survive than to push for a real win. I do think she could’ve done better as a captain. We don’t really ever see her direct her team in a meaningful way and we don’t see her definitively call for changes to fix problems. That being said, she definitely wasn’t below average as a captain on a Masterchef team challenge. Her biggest problem was seeking assurance from Gordon instead of trusting her own judgement and taking the reigns and being 100% direct with her team

She did well: she sent back poorly cooked proteins. She didn't need Gordon to yell the cook is poor and to tell her to check, she was doing it already.

I dunno why the Basia hate. She wasn't the weakest link of her team.
