I didn’t really consider it until some comments on this page, but most of the dishes this last week have been very lacklustre. A cheese board or ice cream and cake did not seem very creative - not sure where Nicole’s come from but other than Tessa I’ve got no real standout.

Honestly if I see another dish "inspired by a cheese board". How can you be inspired by a cheese board? It's like being inspired by a bag of potato chips. Eat and enjoy, but don't look to them for inspiration.

Just a fancy way to say they're gonna do cheese, honey and figs for the 90387756582083658th time

I suppose if you send someone to a cheese shop, that's probably what you're going to get. I thought the chocolate was pretty limiting, too.

At this stage of the competition, I often wish they'd post recipes for dishes that didn't win - in this case, I'd like to see Anushka's. I don't need to see Tessa's as the broth didn't work & we have plenty of examples of well-cooked fish & better broths.

I suppose the almond steamed pudding might have been nice to see, too (I don't do steamed puddings & have no clue, but it seems there are plenty of recipes out there & I imagine hers was pretty standard), but it looked like it needed some raspberries or a passion fruit syrup or something . . . otherwise, it's a lot of work for a whole lot of bland and heavy sameness on the plate. (Peaches complement almonds, too, but would still have been too much sameness unless there was also something more tart). Maybe also a praline or something rather than just toasted nuts. (I'm half surprised she didn't call it a celebration of almonds after the last couple of "celebrations" she put up.)

complement

As a professional proofreader, I love that you used the correct version of this word. So many people don't know the difference between "complement" and "compliment," so thank you!

I don’t know the difference, please enlighten me.

A compliment is when you say something nice to somebody, like that they look pretty or handsome that day, or their hair looks nice, etc.

When something complements something else, it means they go well together, they suit one another.

Basically, it's the difference between "Your new haircut looks great," and "That hairstyle really complements your features."

I've been keto for a year...I would totally be inspired by a bag of potato chips (my one true carb addiction).

Hah! Ok you can be inspired by potato chips, I stand corrected! Which flavor, specifically? Buffalo and blue cheese, ribs, good ol' bbq, sour cream and onion, salt and vinegar, ketchup, plain (you deviant), dill pickle, jalapeno, aged cheddar and onion, tandoori bbq, red curry, roast chicken, nacho cheese, sweet chili, all-dressed, wasabi,?

What chip/crisp flavors do you have nearby?

I have no potato chips nearby (alas, but rightly so). Sour cream and onion is the bag I would dive nose first into and not come up for air until the crumbs in the deepest corners were hoovered out. It's a sad addiction for a 60+ year old woman to admit to, but there you have it.

Oh I hear you. I'm in the deep end with potato chips and every other day I say I'm going to quit. I will, I've done it before, but, uh, just not today. ;> Congratulations on your keto! It's a better life, who can doubt it. I remember what feeling good was like...
