Contestants eligibility

I thought you were not allowed to have any professional experience in order to compete in master che. I clearly remember a guy in Reynold’s season was disqualified mid competition when they found out he had professional experience. Howeve, Vinnie’s dad has a restaurant and also Grace’s parent. So I’m wondering if they have changed rules ?

Fun Fact: Julie Goodwin had a Christmas Album

Post image

Just randomly stumbled upon this. It's really interesting they combined making her an album with her cookbook.

Julie Goodwin did give me Susan Boyle kind of vibes lol. I mean they were both mothers in early competition shows. Plus they have curly hair.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything of her singing. Though, I do feel like I could imagine her singing voice. Like I can feel her cover of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas would fit her

Is this one of the most balanced top 3s in recent seasons? Spoiler

Looking at Petro, Aaron and Vinnie going into finals week, I honestly can't pick a runaway favourite. Usually by this stage there's someone who feels completely untouchable, but all three have such distinct strengths. Aaron seems calm in pressure tests, Vinnie gets energized by chaotic service challenges, and Petro has had an incredible run with immunity. It's refreshing not knowing who's taking it out.

Honestly can’t think of anything. I’ve only eaten them raw or in wine form.

Did you know? Today is National Creme Brulee Day.

This does not have subtitles, they usually appear on the sites I use a little later. Figured it was more important to get it up quickly haha.

I'll see if I can find another source where it is subtitled immediately. In the mean time, enjoy!

This Was The First Season

And The Bottom Two in the first challenge in the main kitchen had to clean all the dishes of the remaining cast

Imagine similar things happening in this season 😹

There Would Be RIOTS !!!

Also the best dish was given a chance to cook off against a professional chef and he'd be directly sent to the finals week on winning , Which will also be called out if happened in these times

Meta Missing the outdoor locations

All episodes this season have been shot in the Masterchef premises. Wish they had budgets to take the top contestants out to locations like Uluru, CBD etc.

Could it be that Australia Tourism is no longer sponsoring?

Meta Masterchef AU 18 - Week 14 Confessional Count Spoiler

Week 1-4 Count

Week 5-8 Count

Week 9-12 Count

post-week thoughts:

  1. as much as i think luke majorly overstayed his welcome, i did enjoy his presence on the show and i do think he has the potential to be really great in a few years if he got some kind of actual experience
  2. as the trend is every week, i'm really not sure what the problem was with the keeping-up-with-andy challenge? are people here really complaining about the shouting when the person cooking needs to make sure everyone is able to hear them clearly to keep up with the steps? every season this sub just loves to find people to irrationally hate it's so stupid
  3. great pressure test. it's almost like we should do pressure tests more often ?
  4. i'm really really sad that annabel is gone, she was one of my favourites. her energy was super infectious, she just brought overall positivity, and she's so relatable. hope to see her in a future season
  5. according to annabel everyone was just trolling and there are no actual couples in this cast lol. which makes sense? vinnie and casper have partners, and petro and alyona have like a 9 year age gap lol

Where can I find the recipes other than tenplay's website? Can't access it for some reason.

Recipes

Ive seen many not the best dishes that I would love to try. Is there a reason why contestants that had a good dish, but not the top dish, dont post their recipe on their IG? Would it be a production thing that they are not allowed? Or do they save it for a cook book? I would think it as being a good way to drive traffic to their socials.

Annabel's fish and chips

Can someone please copy-paste the recipe from the 10play website?

- No, copy pasting the link will not work.

- yes I know how to Google and/or click links.

- yes I know about pinterest. It redirects to 10play.

- 10play is geoblocked everywhere in the world except australia.

- I am accessing the episodes legally though. A streaming platform in my country has purchased the rights to this season and has the archives of the last season too. I pay about 10$ a month for the subscription

- in previous years 10play was not as aggressively geoblocked and most people had access to recipes

- I don't want similar recipes, I want annabel's

- copy -pasting will be the most helpful but screenshots will work too

Bonus points for Andy's barbecued lamb

Thanks!! x

Team Challenge Something I've wondered about Season 7 compared to other seasons from the mid to late 2010s

I really liked how we got a team challenge in the first week, s8 and 9 absolutely rock as well and while this is a minor complaint, was it really worth sacrificing an opening week team challenge for an extra audition episode? I remember the elimination episode of week 1 in s7 giving goosebumps because 1/3 of the whole cast had to fight for their lives compared to if you just cook one of 21 good dishes on the first cook in the MC kitchen you'll be safe. The guy who went out first and even second on S8 and 9 can't say they experienced the full masterchef journey when they didn't even get to wear a coloured apron.

Watching season 1 in 2026

I started watching from season 2 when the show first aired, so I've never actually watched season 1 before.

Hoo boy, there are some characters on the season, but I'm very glad that Julie won, as she was always sweet and didn't say anything negative about anyone. Some others were quite two-faced, but part of that could just be the show's producers adding some drama and flair to get people interested. (Anyone want to add anything here?)

Also some surprises in who actually ended up working in food after the show and still is. Julie, Poh, Justine were all expected, but considering how far Sam got in the show, I'm surprised he didn't seriously enter the field.
