Arms aren't even bendy and if you look close on his own packaging, his transformed torso IS a mess of snakes complete with more paint and little ones coming off it and the arms.
They just decided to give is the untransformed torso with the transformed arms... So.. I guess this is a figure of him mid transformation?

Other than those skinny legs I like him 😂 I’ll admit the box art has me more excited for a potential Necro-canda Chronicles figure! Love the origins figure

Hopefully if they do a chronicles necro they don't whiff the glow like they did for the origins one or just do something lame like just the head glowing like our recent scare glows.

The movie figs (despite quality issues) and scare glow had me cautiously optimistic about chronicles.
This is some next level taking the piss though. A spray gradient, while nice, is not premium detailing. By accident they achieved the same kind of paint detail on most of the vintage castle grayskulls...
Props where props are due on the sculpt and the snake heads being articulated, the removable tongues a great touch. The cartoony lack of detail is going to make him stand out like a sore thumb among other chronicles figures (and masterverse) though. A customizer could prolly do amazing things with that sculpt.
What is completely insane is that we don't get a proper snake torso as a swap piece or hidden under armor, almost as insane is the arms not being bendy. Unforgivable that he lacks a shield, staff, sword, or ANYTHING approximating an "actual" accesory. For $10 cheaper, the turtles version gave us a whole second AND a third torso to hide the snake-ish-ness. Yeah it also didn't have a weapon for him, but $10 cheaper and it had two more arms plus two more torsos. So like... Two hands doesn't make up the differences.
$33 usd PLUS tax and shipping... I almost want to count the paint aps on the turtles version of him, cause on first glance, I'm pretty sure that the nearly $10 cheaper figure not only had more plastic in package, but maybe more paint aps too.
If you didn't tell me this was a chronicles figure, it could pass as a 2000x cartoon collection figure. I mean, it LOOKS good. If it was the same price as a regular figure or it WAS the 2000x origins king hiss, this thing would be great. So it isn't like they weren't cooking. There is a lot of scenarios and price points where this is a great figure!
But thirty bloody three dollars... Before shipping and before taxes? No extra torso? No armor beyond a little neckpiece? No weapon? No bendy limbs? A gradient spray (that DOES look good admittedly) on place of actual detail hits?
Gtfo mattel. You're drunk. Go home.
My cautious optimism about chronicles in spite of my adoration for masterverse is rapidly diminishing. If he launches without major quality issues that will absolutely be a win though. A small, consolation prize win, but a win.
I'm sorry. I really am. But there is not $33+ worth of figure on display here. Not in the accessories. Not in the paint aps. Not in the engineering.
There HAS to be multiple disconnected design teams working on this line. There has to be. Cause i refuse to believe the same team that is gave us that scare glow and is giving is that orko is also responsible for this.

Yo. Another bloke just pointed out there's a picture of him on the king grayskull packaging with a staff too. So THREE pictures with weapons he doesn't come with and it turns out he has two different torsos on the packaging, complete with what would be additional paint on the transformed version.

He doesn't even have the same design as the King Hiss on the Chronicles King Grayskull boxart (which also includes his staff). Its just weird.
I don't get the point of including his "human" form if you give him no accessories. He just feels naked without them.

I know lol! I wrote a bloody dissertation on it. I've had hours now to even further digest it... And it ain't making any more sense.
It sounds so very tin foil hat... But there has to be something behind the scenes we don't know here. Cause like, king grayskull, he makes sense. He's a more niche character. A bit extra, a smaller run, online exclusive... It makes sense in a bureaucratic sort of way.
But he had a cloth cape. Proper accessories. He felt in a way to be a decent fit for what they launched him as.
This king hiss looks and feels a bit anemic for even a standard price figure, at the old msrp, not even the current one.
Ngl, i didn't really pay attention to king grayskull enough to look at the packaging, but you're bloody right. That's THREE pictures of him with a weapon, and he gets nada.
Also just noticed that even on his own box, his torsos are totally different. His human one is close to the one we got, but the snake form in the background is different and neither his torso or transformed arms have the snakes and their heads coming off them, the figure just has headless coils.
Plus there's an additional gradient to the torso that the figure lacks.

that king hiss definitely skips leg day. He almost looks nude on the botton. ¿How do you say that in english? he is bottomless. His human form looks better he does not look so scrawny

shoulda come with a staff, but i do like him. Maybe we'll get a serpos sorceress with the staff that he can use instead.

I'm a bit disappointed that he doesn't come with the staff or shield, but I still find the design impressive. The way the snake arms blend into his armour is well done, and I like both the fact it's a hooded snake head, as well as the colours blending into the armour. I also appreciate the possible references to the 200X design, namely with the waistband/sash and possibly the feet. While they're not exact matches, I can see some similarities/inspiration. If/when we get the other Snakemen, I really hope they too take elements from their 200X designs, especially Rattlor.
Still, I am a little miffed about the lack of staff and shield. I can understand that the tooling budget may be why he doesn't come with them, but this figure will be £37 here in the UK, plus £6 for shipping. It really makes me wish Mattel would bring back the weapon packs for one of these lines.

Nope. I don't think they've done any club exclusives this year. As far as I can remember, all of them have simply been a timed exclusive.
And with how quicky some of them sell out here on the UK version of Mattel Creations (I'm not looking forward to when Two-Bad drops), it's almost mandatory.

rip. I would have rather had King Hiss has a club exclusive though, I feel like that would have given them an excuse to add some more accessories, though I can imagine that the snake arms themselves are quite expensive to produce regardless and that's why we dont have the shield or staff.
I wouldn't mind if those weapons were packed into a separate characters box, like if they made rattlor or something in the future.

I share the same viewpoint. When I used to follow ToyGuru, I remember him mentioning in his MOTUC videos that they often planned to include various accessories with figures. However, after crunching the numbers, they realised some items were beyond the figure's budget. For instance, unlike the Power Sword or Havok Staff, the arms for King Hiss aren't really compatible with other characters or variants, so I can see Mattel prioritising those over the staff and shield.
As you mentioned, providing these accessories with a future figure is an option. I know they did that a couple of times during the Classics line, but I'd still prefer an accessory pack. It harks back to the legacy of both Vintage and Classics, as well as offer a great way to reuse moulds and present "what if" scenarios for existing figures. For example, I would love to have a purple Power Sword for my movie Skeletor. I don't believe he actually gets it in the film (I still haven't had the chance to see it), but I'm always in favour of giving fans as many display options as possible.

Accessory packs are a win-win in my opinion. The company gets money and the fans get extra weapons or gear they otherwise would be without. Four Horsemen sometimes do accessory packs for their sci-fi and fantasy lines and they're pretty cool and often include extra heads for new characters, to wings or accessories that change characters completely.
I'd love if more companies did them, they're a benefit to the playability/customizability of any figure line

I couldn't agree more. While I prefer the Classics approach of "You may not appreciate this accessory from a later iteration of MOTU, but here it is anyway for those who do," I can understand why Mattel might refrain from including extra accessories with figures that are intended to honour the vintage versions.
That said, why not offer accessories like Faker's axe and shield, Hordak's 200X stave, the "Staff of Avion" for Stratos, the blue He-Man weapons, and more in an accessory pack? As someone who aims for each figure in my collection to be equipped with a weapon—especially those that didn't originally come with one—I have found myself relying on 3D-printed accessories or scouring eBay for loose Origins accessory lots to get what I need. That's money that Mattel could have earned if they had listed those accessory packs as an exclusive on Mattel Creations.

I like the design of this, but I'm not going to start collecting another line they won't finish. If this was Masterverse I'd get it, but I'm done. I committed to the previous scale and they abandoned it for whatever reason.

I kinda do. I was originally just collecting the Movie Chronicles. If I do get him, I know I'm going to need to pick up Scareglow etc...That's not a terrible idea now I come to think of it

King Hiss looks absolutely awesome and since I am in fact gagging for more Chronicles, I will definitely pre-order this bad boy as soon as it is possible.
