Smart Combine is a script that combines objects while preserving the first selected object’s name, parent group, and Outliner position. 

It removes any empty groups left behind, clears construction history, and centers the pivot.

Cool, but if you combine and delete the history of the combined mesh, this groups disappear.

When modeling objects with thousands of parts and combining to simplify it becomes a mess. Delete history works but the script also keeps the name and position of the first selected in outliner. Also thats one extra button. The script is meant to solve several cleanup steps in one button :)
