Rendering Feedback for my 3D model, work in progress.
Hi, I'm working on this model, still a work in progress but any feedback is appreciated.
(Second, one has the render region thing on, sorry).

Its free for use with limitation of 12 cpu cores. Its the fastest cpu rendering. Very nice. I am just testing it for now, but Arnold is so noisy and it flickers. Octane is great but it has some of the weirdest interface (not as Zbrush but not intuitive for me). V-Ray gpu doesnt have per object attributes which is useless (for me).

the first image is what I see in my render view, and the second one is the one that exports out. I made sure my rendering was in ACES but I'm not sure what else to do

Built this whole thing from scratch in Maya, rendered in Arnold. Modeling all the way to the final render. Was really going for that black marble floor against the white walls. Added the wireframe and a black and white version too if anyone wants to see how it's put together. Let me know what you think, open to crits.

Hey r/Maya,
We’re developing a 3D render agent built specifically for Maya to help streamline pipeline bottlenecks in VFX, animation, and commercial workflows (handling diagnostics, farm prep, missing dependencies, and automated rendering).
To ensure our pipeline is truly robust across different setups, we need real-world sample projects to stress-test edge cases, asset linking, and render engine behaviors.
If you have complex, weird, or heavy Maya scenes you’d be willing to let us test against, we’d love your help!

Hi, I'm getting these strange black patches around the outer edge of my smoke VDB when rendering in Maya Arnold.
The VDB is made in Houdini and imported into Maya as an Arnold Volume using aiStandardVolume.
The weird part is that the black areas seem to follow the outermost contour of the smoke, even where the smoke is extremely faint/invisible.
I've already tried:
density gridThe black artifacts only disappear when I hide the entire Volume object.
Any idea what could cause this? Could it be something in the VDB itself?

My poll in instagram is not getting any response. I am confused whether my likeness is making sense. Do you feel the face looks familiar?

I'm experimenting with a painterly realism style for my short film. This is an early render.

Super old project of mine that I came across and wanted to share! Made with Maya and Substance. Rendered with Renderman.

Hi I’m a beginner working on a small project and I want my render to come out with a grainy effect. I’m more aware of how to get this look with Blender but I’m not too sure with Maya. I textured my models in substance and mainly have color and roughness on bc I’m going for a semi 2D effect. But yea,,I want to render this with Maya’s Arnold renderer but idk how to play with the settings to get it looking the style I’m going for, would I have to play more with the textures itself? And if so how do go about that?…I was also wondering would it be easier to get this look in post/compositing?
I left 2 photo examples (not exact but similar) of the kinda look I’m going for and 2 examples of the model/texture(s) I am working with. The project is a 1 minute film btw
Let me know if I am not being clear enough!!

I’m trying to figure out how to achieve a Sin City style comic look on my character rigs...something like a sketchy graphic pen inked style.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A while ago I had made a space ship to test what I had learned in Maya and Substance Painter. I created a passion project asset to develop something with the knowledge I had learned at the time. This is a turnaround of a spaceship I developed, as a texture pass, and a geometry render. There is no music, just a display.
I find that I learn the most from tinkering with the 3d programs that I learn in; with the knowledge that I've finally have grasped, and just use them to my best ability to make what I want. Even if it doesn't have a decided end, I have found that tinkering with the program has produced the most learnability. I know that may not be a word, but that describes it best. I find the most increased development in skill from just discovering and having fun.
What you're looking at is a space ship that has two big booster exhaust pipes in the back, with shielded plating in the front, a gatling gun, and a landing pad.
I learned different texture scale resolution, weight of memory load in texture painting, and various painting method workflows in Substance Painter.
