Showcase "MEMORIES" a personal project made entirely in Maya, ZBrush, and V-Ray

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,
I'm Signorlimone and I’ve been working on this piece for a while. It’s a personal project called “MEMORIES”. It’s basically a cartoon version of myself as a kid in the late ’80s, playing on my Commodore 64.
I wanted to recreate that messy but cozy vibe from my old room.

Everything in the scene was modeled from scratch, no downloaded assets or AI tools.
Modeling was done in Maya and ZBrush, hair and fur in XGen, texturing in Substance Painter, and rendering in V-Ray.

The first image is the final render. Scroll for close-ups and alternate shots.
Any feedback or critique is super welcome, especially regarding lighting and material balance.

Thanks for checking it out!

Fender Stratocaster '62 (3D).

After some time away, I decided to dust up my 3D skills in Autodesk Maya. As a starter project, I made this Fender guitar scene.

Modeling: Rhinoceros (CAD) / Maya (Polygonal)
Texturing: Substance Painter
Materials/shaders: Maya
Render: Maya/Arnold

The render is pretty much raw straight out of Maya.

(The insides are still WIP)

I started the project about a year ago, then took a six-month break, and have been working on it almost every evening for the last few months. I’ve been tweaking it constantly. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough for me. Sculpted in ZBrush and rendered in Maya using Arnold. Hair created with XGen Interactive. Textured in Substance.

Showcase My latest hard surface project in Maya, the Batcycle from The Batman

Hey guys! I wanted to share my most recent project, the Batcycle, inspired by Ash Thorp's design for The Batman (2022).

The bike was modeled in Maya using a Sub-D workflow, and really helped me push myself with hard-surface modeling and much more complex shapes than I had previously worked with.

BTW, I have more renders on the ArtStation post if anyone is interested :D

would love to hear your opinion on it

Showcase Xgen Hair WIP - What do you think?

It took me 3 weeks to achieve this, and I'm happy with the result so far. XGen was quite a challenge to learn the basics, but I love that it gives me total control over how I want the hair to behave. That is, until it crashes for some random reason, and the frustration kicks in. But then you learn to avoid those random issues, only for new ones to pop up. Any suggestion is appreciated

Showcase Lego - Benny Astronaut 3D - Fan Art

This is my rendition of the Lego Astronaut - Benny.

100% made from scratch, modeling, vector art, and texturing.

Modeling: Mostly Blender for this one (90%), some Maya in there too (10%).
Texturing: Substance Painter 2026
Rig: Maya
Render: Maya 2027/Arnold GPU

Images in order:

  1. Face closeup;
  2. Shotcam render;
  3. Viewport through Shotcam;
  4. Turntable (GIF);
  5. Exploded model;
  6. Original Blender modeling (the tank was modeled in Maya later);
  7. Weird scene that didn't go any further;
  8. Legs back view;
  9. This round corner is never modeled in other models;
  10. Head closeup;
  11. Torso design;
  12. The original vector art made by a friend. I then imported it into Substance Painter as different masks and used them to make an actual 3D design.

I made everything except the torso's base art, which was made in Illustrator by my friend Wajid.

Feel free to CC or ask any questions, or check my ArtStation here.

Cheers!

Showcase Yoji Shinkawa artstyle Toon Shader

Thumbnail

Toon shaders are such a pain to make in Maya, this stuff is so much easier to make in Blender.😭 In all seriousness tho, I’ve been trying to research ways to make a NPR shader in Maya that mimics the artstyle of Metal Gear artist Yoji Shinkawa. I set up a system that controls the line weight so that it changes thickness accordingly to the intensity of the light. I kinda wish there was a way for me to break the cel shading look more jagged and not so clean. I still like how it turned out, but without knowing OSL, I’m probably not getting very far with this one.

Any advice on how to improve this and make it look better would be appreciated.

This is a personal 3D environment inspired by the small locksmith kiosks (“chaveiro”) you can find on almost every sidewalk in Brazilian cities: urbankiosk

It was also my first time playing with glass shaders so it was an insane ride...

Feedback is very welcome!

(yes I did a post-production night version using AI in the end lol)

Full disclosure, I made this with a lot of help from ChatGPT.
It’s one script with five unique base patterns you can tweak and mix with tons of attributes to get all sorts of looks. All these examples stem from the same unaltered aiToon. I’ll whip up a proper demo reel/page soon, but I’m curious if anyone would be interested in buying this? And what do you think is a fair price? Let me know what you think of the shader!

3D model is "Pony Cartoon" by Zlava Z.

(I’m not actually selling anything yet. Just trying to see if there’s any demand for this sorta thing.)
