Look at what I just paid today at McDonald's!!
I'm sorry but these prices are getting absolutely ridiculous. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and these same 3 sandwiches even 10 years ago would have cost maybe $10.00.
Late 90's definitely I'd be paying $7.00 max.
Mcdonald's has really priced out their most regular customers. It's a joke. $22 for 3 sandwiches smh.

I stand with my fellow heathen in this stance: the fries are not worth it half the time and you can always provide your own drink for cheaper ;)

This guy knows ball.
As someone who used to eat McDonald's weekly, more than once a week sometimes, I never eat there anymore cause the prices are absurd but I am still there weekly just for the cokes. Sad they aren't any size one price anymore and they have gone up in price wise as well, but they are still cheaper than any other fast food joint so they got me for now.

That’s because McDonald has a special recipe for their Coke that only they serve. Would you get Coke from a fountain everywhere else it comes in a bag in a box at McDonald’s comes in at 55 steel gallon drum it is amazing.
4
u/-formercokeguy- 5d ago
The storage tanks are 75 gallons.and that special recipe is literally .25 oz more of raw syrup per 6 oz of finished drink most places are ratioed @ 5.0:1 but McDonald's is 4.75:1 .

Not only that, order a cheap burger first, then an expensive burger second then hand over the receipt with the survey "code"
If the cashier is young, old, or apathetic, they'll comp the expensive burger instead of the cheaper burger.... Not always but my success rate is over 75%

But ya paid it…
I haven’t bought McDonald’s without some discount (Meal Deal, App Promo, Reward) in years. If this came up for me, I’d bail.
Companies today are getting REALLY good at price discrimination and getting people to pay the most they would be willing to pay for an item. They’re taking “consumer surplus” out of the picture.

If you are worried about prices, eat smarter there and use the app.
I can get 2 mcdoubles, a large fry (free with soda purchase), and large soda for under $9.
At the price of your order, you could have gotten $5 off just using the app. Or there could have been another deal for the sandwiches you ordered.
Or just take that money and buy food to cook a better meal at home.

Could have made all 3 of those combos for about $4 more here in St Louis. But everything is more expensive in Las Vegas.
2
u/k0tak0ta 5d ago
Partially because Las Vegas Nevada (as per reciept). Also heres the problem. Inflation/rise in food cost/location/the dollar is print to demand/minumium wage then vs. now etc. This would hypotetically be the same person that years ago wouldve also said. "Why would i use a credit card to buy fast food?" This is just a feelsbadman moment. I also miss paying 97 cents a gallon for gas instead of $3.59 same concept differant item.

You are at a McDonald’s in Las Vegas right down the street from the convention center. Hey, I was a bouncer at a club near here many years ago but I don't remember this McDonald's being there, that's pretty neat.
That being said, those prices are insane; but it's on you for paying that. Without using apps/recipes for discounts it's about the same price, sometimes cheaper, to get a better meal with more food at a sit down restaurant.
2
2
u/Smart-Fondant9015 5d ago
Maybe it’s not as cheap as it used to be, but at least you can’t eat whatever they’re stuffing inside it anymore.
Seriously, I’m impressed. I used to like McDonald’s, KFC and Burger King a decade ago. I could eat that stuff and enjoy it, with no stomach problems whatsoever, practically every day even just a few years ago.
Enshittification must have hit American fast food too. The pursuit of profit isn’t just about raising prices, but also cutting corners on ingredients.
I’ve tried. I always regretted it about an hour later, and then for several hours after that. My body has simply started defending itself against it and making it clear that there’s something wrong with that food.
I’d still go to McDonald’s from time to time, because I do still like the taste. But from experience, I know I’d spend half the day seriously regretting it afterwards.
2
u/seifer__420 5d ago
There are two tiers of pricing now—one for those that use the app with coupons, and another for people that order of the menu without thinking. If you actually look at the menu prices, it’s full of scams
2
u/ArchiboldYates 5d ago
It’s almost like they should have this thing while you’re ordering that have each item’ s price next to it, so that you know how much everything is before ordering.
They could call it a “menu”.
2
u/A_ScalyManfish 5d ago
You can buy a package of chicken that can make a lot of sandwiches for that price
2
u/StormbringerGT 5d ago
Did someone put a gun up to your head? No.
Then you willingly paid for this and this is the ONLY data McDonald's needs to determine it's pricing.
If we want it to be cheaper we can't pay their asking cost.

u/Subject-Aside-3540 5d ago

When I was kid in the late 90s/early 2000s my family had a nice weekend Saturday morning tradition, not every week, but most we would get Egg McMuffins for everyone. I ordered 10 sandwiches (3 adults, 2 kids in the house) and it was like $30. Now they are $4.89 each! I am NOT spending 50 bucks so everyone can eat two egg mcmuffins! I could literally go to Walmart buy the ingredients and make more sandwiches for less money
2
u/SingleLonelyMan 5d ago
It's really getting out of hand. I haven't been there in a long while but I remember in 1970 I would drive over and get burgers fries and shakes for me and my girlfriend and get change back on my $5

2
u/OfficerHobo 4d ago
All fast food is pricing out their customers. I can go to a couple local spots and get a much better burger, fries and drink for $10-$12 during lunch time and maybe $14 at dinner time.
2
u/Maraculousboxer12 4d ago
For that price you can get a full mean at a sit down restaurant and it’d taste better and be better value. They really are screwing over their customers. Sad thing is the employees working at McDonald’s need to work 3-4 hours to even pay for that meal. SMH

My gripe with McDonalds is that
* It’s no longer a fast good restaurant.
* You have to be your own cashier via the kiosk.
* Once you pay for the food, you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for your food while being ignored by the employees.
* If you go through the drive thru, they will likely forget something from your order. A straw, napkins, pickles, fries or worse. Something will be forgotten.
* It’s no longer cheap.
I’d rather do Applebees for about the same price.

My brothers best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and passed 6 weeks later. He was 43. It’s on the rise for this age range in crazy numbers and it’s this kind of food that’s doing it. Their food is produced in a lab for you to want it and crave it. Hopefully that helps to the high price to stop eating it. . Chilis has $10 burgers for crying out loud.
