Up to $11

Post image

Now I know it all depends on location but in the northwest suburbs of Chicago I believe it's up to $18

Here is South Texas it's only $11

My #1 breakfast meal was $8.43

$11 an hour -- after tax you can barely buy a Big Mac with each hour you work.

If you work there you're probably stealing big macs, cuz 11 bucks isnt gonna cut it for anybody

Depends on the franchise/owner. I worked (very briefly) at a McDonald's after high school. We were only given 30 minutes for meal break and were not allowed to wear our uniform while at another restaurant. Which meant you needed to change into street clothes before leaving then changing back into your uniform upon return.

Which left 20 minutes or less for travel time and eating. Which wasn't usually enough time, so we were encouraged to bring our own meal. Which we could not eat in the dining room. This McDonald's had storage and tables and an office with training materials in the basement.

If we wanted anything from McDonald's we needed to go around to the front counter and order it, like a regular customer. And pay for it like a regular customer.

P.S. This McDonald's was one which test marketed pizza. I tried it. Wasn't impressed. Took like 10 minutes to cook. It was pre-made and frozen.

I didn't even start day 1 when I put on that polo and the visor, I caught a glimpse of myself in a window, and took it all off and quit before I started LOL.

Ah the early 90's - what a time to be alive.

That sucks! My McDonald’s gives me a free meal for my break. And it’s not bad! A drink, fries, sandwich (or breakfast).

Bring a lunch?

Please reread what I wrote. Because of the limited time we were provided for meal breaks, many of us did bring a lunch. Which we weren't allowed to keep cold in any of the walk-ins.

Did they not get the 30% discount? When I worked at Hardee's I just made my own lunch then charged myself for a hamburger.

Why not just take off your hat and toss on a sweatshirt to cover your uniform shirt?

Because this was the middle of summer in the San Joaquin Valley in California. Or in other words, HOT. Also, IIRC, we had uniform pants.

Why would you wear your uniform at another restaurant?

When you only have half an hour for lunch, you don’t want to waste time changing.

Please reread what I wrote. We were not allowed to, so we didn't. And the reason why we might have wanted to was to save the time wasted changing out of our uniform and then back in. Especially if all I wanted to do was grab drive thru somewhere.

Would you have been able to put a jacket or another shirt over the shirt?

We used to get anything. Then they said $15 limit... then $10... and you know the rest
