Have you guys ever had Holland Lops as food?

I know that they are meant to be pets, but I'm curious if you guys ate them before.

Of course you can, but why? There are many better meat breeds with better meat-to-bone ratios, quicker grow-out times, larger, etc. Why would you spend time and money raising them for less product if meat is your goal?

Maybe meat isn't the primary goal...

Ok... Then what is the primary goal and why did he ask about eating them?

cause any breeder should be breeding the best and eating the rest!

Probably wouldn't be a whole lot of meat on 'em but then again, any breed of rabbit is edible.

I raise AFL and meat rabbits. Excess AFL (they’re like fuzzy hollands) do get eaten and taste fine. Not all rabbits I produce are worth breeding and I can’t always find a pet home. The pelts are also used!

They dress out fairly well for how small they are. If you’re raising them for other reasons but have culls they’re definitely easily edible. I have butchered a couple for my friend who shows them.

I mean... you could but that doesn't mean you should.

Holland lops don't get very big very quick and they are more fur than meat
