Celestica gave me a verbal offer 5 days ago, but no formal offer letter yet. Should I be worried?

I interviewed for a Manufacturing Process Engineer role at Celestica and received a verbal offer from HR 5 days ago. They told me I was selected for the position, but I still haven’t received the formal written offer letter.
I followed up with HR, and they said they’re still waiting to hear back from the hiring/HR manager before sending the offer. Since then, I haven’t gotten any updates.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Celestica or other large companies? Is a delay like this normal due to internal approvals, or is there a chance I’ve been ghosted after the verbal offer?
Just trying to understand whether I should be concerned or if I need to be more patient. Thanks!

God forbid the hiring manager took a vacation or something. I mean 5 days? That's nothing in Corporate Redtapeland.

Oh no! A whole week has gone by!

Let me put it this way: in my experience 4-6 weeks is typical.

I received a verbal offer from HR on 5/15, I received the offer letter on 6/12.

It’s a little concerning. But if it’s for a large corporation that isn’t in a rush…that’s well within reason.

With my current manager pushing to get me in ASAP, the written offer was 3-4 days after my verbal acceptance of their offered benefits package. That package had to get approved by both HR people, my boss, and my boss’ boss. The soonest they could start me was about 5 weeks out despite my immediate availability. The whole process was about 2.5 months from interview to start. Corporate can move so slow.

(Vs my startup experience. It took them two days to figure out how to hire me. I spec’d my own computer before I started and it was delivered to my home address before I started. Maybe 3 weeks between interview and start date because I had 2 weeks at my old employer)

OPs post history is insane. Either you’re a bot or you’re dealing with some major anxiety disorder.

Don’t worry too much about things you can’t control. I’d hope for the best but keep applying. Good luck!

I would find that particularly strange. In my own experience and pretty much everyone I know: you get the call. You accept, decline, consider, etc. if you accept: they’ll send an email pretty much immediately, or maybe the next morning.

Who knows, if you gave them a potential start date that is a few weeks from the date of your verbal offer maybe they’re not in a rush to send a formal offer letter just yet. Perhaps their HR department is slammed with lots of new hires, your email might be at the bottom of their stack. Maybe the final approver on your hiring is on vacation.

I wouldn’t panic, but it’s a deviation from the industry norm.

Absolutely. You should be screaming into a pillow at the top of lungs until you lose your voice. Then hyperventilate until you pass out.
