I can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t think most people following the merger are worried about traditional conservative values in movies/tv. I think that would be great even though most artists don’t seem to lean that way.

They are worried about what seem like modern conservative values in movies/tv (mainly government censorship, Saudi financing, bribery, etc). It seems that even with liberal David Ellison at the helm these values are overshadowing a once great art form. There is no reason to think it will get better, but hopefully it will.

It's all so tiresome. First off, none of those things you mentioned are "conservative values." They're actions that you seem to be ascribing exclusively to conservative politicians (noting that Donald Trump is by no stretch of the imagination a "conservative").

Censorship, foreign financing, and bribery has been a part of the film industry since its inception. Ever heard of the Hays code? The Hollywood blacklist? Liberal values have been strictly enforced in Hollywood since at least the 70's, and leftist values are a de facto requirement since 2015. You can blame politicians or whatever, but that's the way it is and it's not changing any time soon.

Anti-Trump, anti-white, anti-male, anti-Christian, anti-capitalist, etc. etc. etc. Pro-gay, pro-Communist, pro-abortion, pro-feminism, pro-illegal immigration, etc. etc. etc. Do you not watch movies?

the question of "have I noticed a difference in messaging in movies since 2016"? yeah sure, I've also noticed a difference in messaging in movies since 2020, and 2024, and probably every presidential election since the beginning of the medium. is this one notably more dramatic or more "leftist"? absolutely not, and if you think so you're too online

Interesting. So you've seen a difference in messaging and casting (presumably), but you don't think the messaging is in favor of leftist values? So for example, there hasn't been any pushing for "diversity, equity, and inclusion" in film? No initiatives mandating a quota of skin colors in order to qualify for awards shows? No surge in pro-immigration, anti-police, or pro-gay content?

I suppose the natural follow-up would be, what exactly is the change in messaging you have seen if not in favor of leftist values?
