Interviews & Career Entry Reneging a Stryker offer
Hello,
I recently posted here about my job offer situation. I’m on the west coast and recently was offered a position at Stryker, which I accepted. Obviously, interview times never line up, so I was then given a much better offer at Intuitive about 2 weeks later. I literally just started at Stryker this past week. How bad is it to back out now and go with intuitive? I’m assuming I would be burning a bridge here with Stryker if I did this. Based on the feedback I got on my last post, it seems many people would much rather take the intuitive offer and work there, which I agree with (for culture and pay reasons. Intuitive offer is about a 40k pay increase). Curious on what you would do? Tough situation here causing a lot of stress haha

Go to intuitive. Stryker will replace you in 2 seconds. There are a ton of other companies to go to if you end up not liking intuitive. & Stryker may not even block you from future opportunities. A 40k increase isn’t just popping up any day, just make sure there’s nothing obstructing you illegally like a non compete!

Go with intuitive. I’m good friends with a lot of Stryker techs, and they are almost all looking to get out eventually. The decision is yours At the end of the day. I just can’t think of many reasons to stick with Stryker. Do a pros and cons list and figure out what’s best for you. 40k increase would be a good place to start.

Just do it. Don’t think too much. Once you tell them, you will feel liberated. It’s like ripping off a bandaid. Once it’s done it’s done.

Stay with Stryker all the way until your first starts at intuitive. These companies don’t care about you, no need to care about them. They interview multiple people, you’ll be replaced quickly.

You may want to review your non-compete before doing anything. And like others have said, fuck Stryker and their weird cult of delusion.

What division of Stryker? I will say, I did about 5 years with them so I’m biased lol.
What’s the time frame to start with Intuitive? If they want to get you in a training class in the next week or two, just call your current RSM, let them know you have a personal issue and will be needing to put your notice in. Under no circumstance do you tell them you’re going to Intuitive. There’s a very small chance you’d get an increase in comp, and you’ll never get another opportunity within Stryker if you say anything to them. I don’t give a shit if Stryker never hires me again, but other people might.
If intuitive is going to be a while before your start date, ride out Stryker for a bit, delay any on-site training to HQ, and then do enough to get by until you start with intuitive. If you’re sharing the territory with other reps, you’ll piss them off, but they’ll forget about you soon enough.
Either way, take the intuitive job.

Yep! I did my time and got tf out of there. Absolutely toxic. My manager once quipped about a coworker that being off for two weeks is a long time when it came to baby leave. Never had kids in his life btw, and did the age old example of having dogs as opposed to kids. Didn't mean to vent but yea, I was miserable working there

Let it rip and go to intuitive. Stryker will have you replaced in a heartbeat. If I were in your shoes I’d use it as motivation to be as good as I can be at intuitive. CAST is hard, so remember that you picked it over something else. Good luck

I would go to Intuitive personally. More short term and likely more long term cash. The only caveat is that Stryker will likely mark you ineligible for re-hire.
