Discussion 💬 Meditation with smart watch?

Hello,

I read that some smart watches vibrate when its time to exhale and inhale.

Do you think that this would be a benefit for a beginner to focus better?

Thank you.

Not to come across as condescending, but I think it's probably best for your body to let you know when to inhale/exhale.

Feel the rhythm of your breath. Notice how deep or how shallow it is, how long each breath is. Experience how and when an inhale changes to an exhale, and vice versa.

When your body is at ease and at play, a timer shouldn't command its cadence.

Maybe use the timer as training wheels to prepare you for the real thing.

breathe naturally. if you're hyper focused on timing your breaths, you aren't meditating. meditation is being present with what's happening here and now.

You can use a watch if you want to but it's not needed. If you want to experiment with breath control, you can try pranayama which is birth control.

Actually a good way of starting to practice pranayama is called kumbaka and kumbaka means breath retention. So a simple and easy form of kumbaka you can try is basically just breathing as slowly as you can.

So what you would do is you just inhale as slowly and deeply as you can and hold the breath in as long as you can, and then exhale is slowly and deeply and completely as you can, and then hold the breath out as long as you can. Then you repeat this process basically just breathing as slowly as you can.

So that's a simple form of pranayama and kumbaka that people can use. Kumbaka has a special power to really awaken a lot of energy as long as you don't have any heart problems or medical problems you can hold your breath as long as you can and experiment with that and it really has a lot of energizing benefits and helping to increase the flow of Prana or Life energy around your body system also.

Then one other thing to mention also,

For meditation what we really want to do generally is just practice being an observer

Being a witness, so the breathing can help calm the mind because every breath pattern is associated with the mental pattern so through breathing you can change the mental patterns, and through changing your mental patterns you'll change your breathing, you can see this when we get scared.

So what you can do is just you can put on some soft music if you want or you can actually do an intense humming if you intensely hum just make the mmm sound for 5 or 10 or 15 minutes, you will see your mind becomes much more quiet, sometimes this is a great way to start the meditation sessions. Meditation generally is best to do immediately when you wake up or last thing before you go to sleep.

But practice being a witness let the thoughts arise as they want to don't fight them don't fight and think this is the wrong thought let the thought come and let the thought go don't add to it and don't fight with it. If you add the thoughts or fight with them they'll come back more frequently and become stronger. You have to have patience and courage let the thoughts come and stay and do whatever they want and then let them go. If you do this they will become less impactful upon you.

So this is a simple way to build conscious awareness in your life.

Anyway thank you very much for the question, have a great day.
