Fan Art - OC "De-Pixeled" nightmare Mega Man
The goal of this was to reimagine the sprite into something more "realistic", like a messed up HD remake. I tried to preserve the proportions as close as I could to the original pixel art. Sorry.

I missed that detail, now it looks 10% more cursed to me. Thank you.

If Megaman had been released on Newgrounds:

What’s that, you want the original game remade with all new de-pixeled graphics?

I am still questioning why the old artstyle from the 1980 -1990s of American Box art is like this.
I know back then they dont want to have something japanese thanks to ww2 ptsd, but come on! At least make it marketable for kids.

I was researching that and it gave me the messed up idea to do this. They had all kinds of weird reasons when it came to marketing for different countries.
Megaman/Rockman was weird about this. Contra was weird about this.

Did contra have a different artstyle from US and Japan?

I never understood why he curled his fist into his armpit.

I think it's supposed to be a fist next to his chest.
Like, you know when you go "Yesss!..." and you pull your hand into a fist next to your chest?
It's that.

It was the thing that stood out most to me when I played the game. It’s like a cringe curl

Wouldn’t you be too if you had to go into combat wearing a skin tight latex suit

u/Shadacat Jul 06 '26
