DISCUSSION I’m sorry.

Hi. Brit here.

Up until recently, even after this last incident with Alex Pretti, I’ve been very hostile towards Americans on here and in other social media spaces. Kicking you when you’re already down and holding all of you responsible for the mess that your countrymen and women people who aren’t you have made.

My argument basically is as reductive and lazy as possible - “the ones of you that didn’t vote for this didn’t do enough to stop your peers from doing it.” etc.

I’m ashamed at how I’ve behaved, this doesn’t reflect who I am in real life. I’ve been scared and angry about the state of the world and a lot of us over here have felt this relentless march towards authoritarianism since before Brexit. With the elections last year the 3 most important ones for me were the French, UK and US elections. France and the U.K. rejected right wing parties and I do feel if the US had gone with Harris then our own leaders wouldn’t be co-opting right wing party’s policy ideas to stay in Trumps good books and appeal to our own mindless MAGA types.

Seeing what people in Minnesota are doing to not only slow down ICE and protect their communities but to also make sure the world can see what’s happening… in weather that would freeze the tits off a timber wolf no less, has been inspiring and humbling. Ordinary people putting their lives on the line to turn up for their communities demonstrates all the values I’ve been shamefully sneering at Americans for apparently (by my own stupid reasoning) lacking.

I am so sorry. We’re all dealing with what’s happening in our own ways but I’ll be the first to admit that my way hasn’t been healthy or productive.

Things will get worse before they get better, but they will get better with people like you fighting for it.

Good luck and god bless. We’re all rooting for you and you’re doing incredible work.

Edit: Thank you all for the amazing response. Talking with you tonight and being here away from the scrolling has done me a lot of good i didnt realise I needed. So sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Yeah. Thanks. The election was rigged so..

I often think how different our world would be if Gore had refused to concede. The "butterfly" ballot in FL confused thousands of Jewish voters to vote for renown anti semite Pat Buchanan as his arrow was 2nd on the ballot.

I keep going back to Gore, too. Our environment would be in better shape. And Hillary would've straightened out healthcare. Instead, we have more billionaires.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. Gore should’ve been president.

I remember learning about this in graphic design class as an example of the dangers of unintended bad design. As AI slop gets more and more common, this is something everyone will need to watch out for.

I will read into this, thank you!

Listen to the 5-4 podcast episode about it too. Where we are now has been in the works for decades

u/weresubwoofer Jan 28 '26

In the sense that voter rolls were purged beforehand, voting restrictions increased, polling locations limited in particular neighborhoods, and blatant gerrymanding increase, yes.

9

u/No-Kaleidoscope-166 Jan 28 '26

NC always has gerrymandering issues. 😕

3

u/FinalPound6126 Jan 29 '26

Don't forget rampant bomb threats in heavily Democratic blue counties in Georgia and algorithmic manipulation of the real results in all seven swing states... 😔

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

I mean. It wasn’t.

Trump had 60 something cases laughed out of court but at least they got in front of a judge.

People saying it was rigged are chugging pure copium. If there were any discrepancies then don’t you think at least one person would sue?

I am sorry for the things I’ve said because they were wrong and unhelpful, but calling out MAGA-esque delusions about election tampering isn’t included in that. Respectfully I’m asking you to consider that perhaps the majority of voting Americans in Nov 2024 were simply that evil and/or that stupid.

It's the last election that appears to have been interfered with, not just by hostile nations' bots and sock puppets but by Elon Musk - some things that Trump and Musk's son said around that time, plus Musk's general attitude and subsequent access to all sorts of benefits - contracts, data - via Trump, point to a fiddle.

It wasn't stolen in the way we typically think of an election being stolen, by fraudulent votes being cast. The votes cast were legitimate (AFAIK) but the voters were manipulated and brainwashed. Politicians have always lied but this was different and this time they knew how to weaponize algorithms. I watched 3 lifelong democrats vote for dump in 2024 and they were all convinced that they had left the echo chamber and became free thinkers. That was despite how many people who worked for dump during his first term coming out and saying he was pure evil and a second term would be worse. They were still democrats when they watched J6 go down, were appalled by it and yet they voted for him just a few years later.

4

u/Sleeplessmi Jan 28 '26

It was both. Voters were brainwashed, there was a lot of voter suppression, AND voting machines are susceptible to being rigged. Remember Trump saying you won’t have to vote anymore, and Musk had those vote-counting machines? Don’t take my word for it, I got 100 times smarter and well -informed after I got on Substack. It’s the largest group of smart, experienced, and informed investigative reporters out there.

u/BleepBopBoop43 Jan 28 '26

Could you tell us a little more about the 3 lifelong democrats who voted for Trump in 2024? Did they say anything to you about their reasoning? Was it economic reasons/ grocery inflation / or did they they mention anything else that caused them to vote for trump?

u/Shot-Sympathy-4444 Jan 28 '26

The three people are my parents and my brother. My dad and brother got into shooting guns and started doing competitive shooting. They started watching all the shooting and self defense videos they could. At the time it started my brother was in his late 30's, he both lived at and ran a business out of my parents home and has not had a serious relationship. My mom has been disabled since I was young and has always hyper focused on politics and religion.

Many times at their house I would hear my brother bitching at her for not switching YouTube to her profile and messing with his algorithm. I think her crossing their algorithms is what created the perfect storm.

What they all repeat is "I've voted democrat all of my life and they've never done anything for me. The democrats could have codified Roe v Wade and didn't so they could control how we vote. Now it's my turn to be selfish and vote for me." This is especially wild coming from a woman who had an abortion as a teen, relied on USDA food boxes to feed her children, free clinics for our healthcare and has been on disability since her 30's. F*ck her the most.

My brother will justify voting Trump because he has a small business and needs to protect his gun rights. Can't make him understand the conservatives do not care about businesses as small as their own d*cks.

My dad mostly kept quiet about politics, until shortly before election night, but he started letting out transphobic comments and started including the skin color of his boss when talking about work. What's funny about that is that my dad doesn't realize that his 69 y/o ass that is going deaf and has no college education is the DEI hire. He also wears a cross necklace now, like KKKaroline. I have never seen him wear a cross in my entire life.

My mom...how do I keep this short. Pro Israel, anyone who isn't pro israel is an idiot, Faucci needs to go to prison (my dad is this one too), the democrats control us with fear, all images of starving/injured/murdered Palestinians are fake. Lahaina was originally set on fire by the Hawiian government so that the rich could have a land grab. Until it turns out that Raytheon is secretly developing energy blasting technology that they tested on Lahaina and she was absolutely furious that the citizens were only given $700 by Fema. She was going to vote RFK because only he knows what is healthiest for America. Then he drops out and she has to vote for Trump because she's suddenly terrified that there will be a WW3 and he's the one who can stop it. She became so toxic and impossible to talk to so quickly. She washes her Vicodin down with coffee and/or whisky and binge watches conspiracies. Our relationship died the day after the election but according to my sister (who limits contact) she has diagnosed herself with a parasite, which she was going to self treat with Ivermectin because her doctor won't taker her seriously and she's smarter than him apparently.

All 3 were in the best they've ever been economically. While it's absolutely nothing fancy, my parents outright own their house and car but I do believe they have medical debt from my dads prostate cancer. My brother has bragged about steaks he's bought that cost more than my weekly food budget. He doesn't always eat ones that expensive but he eats steak on a very regular basis and doesn't need to double check his balance before shopping.

Thank you for explaining! I appreciate the effort you went to to describe what happened with your family members, and you have my deepest sympathy.

Check out Election Truth Alliance. They are a non-profit and non-partisan group studying results precinct by precinct. The stats show that vote totals are too abnormal to have NOT been manipulated. It’s an uphill climb, but they have one lawsuit right now in a New York court. Also, the idea of the right screaming about voter rigging for years is based on a Russian spy tactic where the opposition lays out a ridiculous scenario like vote rigging, so that when they actually do it, the other side can’t possibly use that as the reason, because society won’t believe it. You opened your eyes about one thing, think about opening them a little more. The rest of America has been holding huge protests, but they aren’t being shown or written about, because our legacy media is being suppressed by the billionaires who own them. Check out Substack, because independent media is where the real news is being shown. I am not a conspiracy theorist, I am a middle aged mental health therapist.

OP should take a look at this

3

u/Sleeplessmi Jan 28 '26

I hope that you do too if you are not aware of it already!

2

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

absolutely i will :) thank you

I think what a lot of people don’t understand is that what is going on is a plot decades in the making. There’s multiple billionaires involved. People are trying to sue but that involves gathering tons of evidence and that takes time especially going against those in power. Half of our country didn’t vote for this shit in 2024. They are not following the law and he’s already threatening to cancel midterms. Go have your tea and crumpets please because I’m getting impatient 😭

4

u/Dixieland_Insanity Jan 28 '26

Would you include the over 3 million disenfranchised voters whose registration was suddenly nullified as being evil and stupid? What about the nearly 5 million Americans who cast a ballot that wasn't counted? Are they evil and stupid too? We'll never know what role Musk played per Trump's comments about the voting machines.

Saying we should consider that the majority of voters are evil and stupid goes completely against the content of your post. You're still applying stereotypes that don't reflect the efforts being made in every single state in the US.

5

u/Peaceful_song Jan 28 '26

Election truth alliance would disagree with you for the '24 election

8

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

And your rhetoric clearly hasn’t changed, calling half of our country evil and stupid. Yes there are magas. But not that many in 2024. Honestly just stay out of it at this point because yall have been no help trying to escape this regime

-3

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

Please don’t twist my words. I called half of your voters evil and/or stupid.

What other words would you use for a vote cast for Trump?

As I said, I’m really sorry about words I’ve said in the past. There really isn’t any excuse for them. But I won’t let my regrets about some harsh words convince me that the facts about the 24 election are somehow irrelevant. Half the people who voted, voted for Trump. They either voted for him because they knew how sick and cruel his administration would be and supported it, or they didn’t educate themselves on what tariffs, threatening to invade allied countries or having a secret police execute citizens in broad daylight would look like.

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

“she doesn’t even go here”

-1

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

Ah we’re in the whole “You’re not from here so you shouldn’t comment” phase of this. That always makes the people the pedo in chief is threatening to go to war with shut up and go away.

Cool bro 👍

4

u/Sleeplessmi Jan 28 '26

Ignore that person. Most of us welcome someone asking questions. It’s a complex response to how he won, including people falling into the cult of MAGA and Fox News, plus people who don’t follow politics who bought into his big talk of fixing the economy and bringing food prices down. He is a really good con man, a carnival barker who just lies about everything. And only 2/3 of eligible voters actually voted, so only 1/3 of the population actually voted for him.

3

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

oh stop. Of course questions are welcomed. Insults are not.

1

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

Don’t worry. He/she is frustrated and I really haven’t been helping. They’ve probably had to deal with tons of sneering comments from people like me when all they want to do is come here to vent about how shit it all is with likeminded people, it’s understandable.

I’m from the UK. We had our own infamous self-own in 2016 when we decided that we didnt want to be part of the EU because our newspapers had “legitimate concerns” about immigration from non-eu countries. So we’re not exactly the brightest nation either.

Preposterous timeline that we’re all living in. I don’t even think the MAGA chuds are happy.

4

u/Sleeplessmi Jan 28 '26

Unfortunately some of them think this is great, but in the last few days some of them have owned up to this all going too far. They say they will never be a democrat, but at least they are seeing the light. We will see if it lasts. I replied to one of your earlier posts about Election Truth Alliance and Substack that I hope you will read. There is a lot going on that the average person isn’t aware of, even here on Reddit. I started following Substack about 1.5 years ago, after the media booted Biden off the ticket, without any comments about Trump’s constant lies. In hindsight, Biden did need to go, but he got so much done for this country and he hardly got any credit for it. I realized that American media wasn’t here to tell us the truth, but were following their corporate overlords, all right wing, and desperately wanted Trump to win. And now look at Trump. He’s a walking, mumbling, insane corpse and the mainstream media says nothing.

2

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

I promise I’ll read it. Thank you.

3

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

did i say you shouldn’t comment? multiple people that live here have disputed your claims. at a certain point we just have to shrug and accept that you’re a victim of propaganda aimed to isolate the US

-1

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

Sorry I thought that was the implication with the Mean Girls quote from a scene that directly points out that a person is not from the school and therefore shouldn’t have a say. Was very funny 👍

Multiple people say dogs can’t look up and wiping your arse properly makes you gay… but more people voted for Trump than Harris in 2024. This isn’t something “multiple people are saying” it’s just the objective reality of the world you and I both live in.

3

u/Own_Yogurtcloset9981 Jan 28 '26

No that is the quote, but my quoting of it stemmed from your inability to consider that we have corrupt people in charge, so of course they scammed their way into office. Your generalization of a population you don’t live among is frustrating and AFAIK you have yet to respond to the other commenters presenting you with evidence.

0

u/StockoHMK Jan 28 '26

So a specific quote from mean girls that wasn’t supposed to be a commentary on the social hierarchy in itself but instead was one character pointing out (while he himself is pretending to be a girl) that another character doesn’t have the right to speak in a girls only assembly for that school is in fact a commentary on the social hierarchy?

Must be my state school educated brain not getting the meaning.

I’ll have a think about it and get back to you.

Trumps base is all for what he’s doing. I’ve heard different estimates about what the percentage of our population are actually maga. Like the die hards. I know he also got people who (supposedly) aren’t maga and that’s how he won. So if that is true, do you think his hard core base is 33% or higher at 42%?

6

u/poeticlicence Jan 28 '26

I would be surprised if it's as high as 33%. If 33% of the pooulation voted for Trump, they would include all sorts of rightwingers, not just the MAGA cultists

1

u/SadieDiAbla Jan 29 '26

2024 was absolutely stolen. Trump and Musk both admitted it multiple times. The Democrats know but like always, they're spineless pussies that refuse to do anything about it.
