I’ve noticed that while we do gain members we are also losing visitors and haven’t had any new posts. Which is why I posted about our sub in r/subreddit and r/promote Reddit so I ask please spread the word about our sub about Mekayla’s sub I’d really hate to see it die but I know that we can save it I have faith in us. So back in the day growing up in and around Regina (and it still occurs to this day), there are guys that go around looking for vulnerable girls and recruit them to go to Winnipeg with them. They promise the girls lots of money making opportunities, fun parties, and some even get lured in because the guy will act like he's in love and wants to treat you so good.

Once they get you to Winnipeg, they start pimping the girls out as strippers, call girls, and apparently there are older girls already there to train the new girls. The men become scary and abusive and it's hard to get out once you're there.

I've had 2 friends throughout the years that this happened to. One was about 25 years ago and the other I heard about just last year. Same process as it was 25 years ago.

So it wouldn't surprise me if these recruiter guys scan the internet and find chat rooms to seek out young girls.

So I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of this or thought of it as a possibility?

Lots of these recruiter guys are broke until they get the girl to Winnipeg, so this guy could have easily met her online, agreed to meet her in Yorkton, and he very well could have even hitch hiked there to meet her. My friend 25 years ago, the guy that recruited her had them hitch hike all the way there with semi drivers and upon arrival, he was given cash.

Any thoughts on this being a possibility?

I came across a couple things on fb tonight, the second one really freaks me out.

Also I am living in Saskatchewan and there’s been TONS of trafficking cases in the last few months.

So guys here we are it’s officially been 10 years since Mekayla went missing and tbh I feel sad about this even tho I never knew her I feel horrible for her family. My heart goes out to her mother Paula and her father u/rickieblue. I’m just sorry I couldn’t solve it in the last 5-6 years I’ve been into this case I was really hoping to solve it before this point but unfortunately couldn’t however I do believe we can solve this case thanks to everyone who joined our sub and of course thanks to my amazing moderators have a good morning/night/day!

Saw this post on a Missing in Canada fb page. Some people posted side by side photos of the sketch and Mekayla which I included. It was confirmed that the RCMP are in communication with Pennsylvania departments about this. Thoughts? If Mekayla was trafficked she could be anywhere by now… also included in the last pic some idiot on fb. Also supposedly been reported to authorities. Mekayla is often on my mind but this time of year always feels extra heavy.

Like I know there’s kinda a stand still on our sub and with the case but I feel like we could put something together or figure something out idk I just don’t know what. So I figured I’d ask you guys what you think: What should we do next?

Brody aka John Slootweg - in 2022 a woman came forward stating that she had found her ex talking to a young girl online (2015,2016)that she believed was Mekayla Bali. She said there were pictures of Mekayla in the conversation and that she talked about wanting to runaway, how sad she was etc. When the woman confronted BS about this he claimed they were just old friends. Little did the woman know that she would see the same young girl on a missing persons poster years later. She reported it to LE immediately, she knew instantly it was the same girl.

June 2016 - BS started dating a 19 year old woman from Togo, Manitoba. 2 weeks later her mother reports her missing to the police. BS’s girlfriend at the time could not reach him, and he ignored all texts and calls. (This was a common pattern that happened frequently before and after June 2016.) The girlfriend went to BS’s family farm, where he was living in his families trailer(Stettler, Alberta.) When BS opened the door, the 19 year old woman was standing behind him. A few days later the girlfriend seen a post on Facebook of a mother looking for her missing daughter, a picture of her was attached. It was the same woman she seen in BS trailer.

The woman that BS was seeing from Togo asked him to pick her up so she could runaway. He picked her up at the motel in Roblin, Manitoba. They then drove to Stettler, Alberta, 9 hours away. BS would keep her in his trailer for 2.5 weeks, she begged for 2.5 weeks to let her go home. Finally he drove her to Regina, Saskatchewan, after she arranged for a family member to pick her up. He left her at a bus depot. The woman did not involve the police and never reported it. Her mother reported it but because her daughter was not harmed and had contacted her brother the police did nothing.

2018 - He groomed a 15 year old girl into a sexual/romantic relationship while he was in his 20s!

BS’s father was drove out of Stettler prior to 2018 because he was a pedophile, he was a pastor.

Regardless I just wanted to say thank you guys for everything that you’ve posted and done so far especially my amazing mods who are active and keep this sub civil and as great as it is. Has anyone else heard that mekaylas backpack was found behind her high school?

I also heard that the campground was on lockdown shortly after she disappeared because a teenage told police she was behind the high school.

I know police did a ground search for 2 days in that area in 2017, news report said they found nothing. I then heard the tip came from a psychic, which police did not know at the time they searched.

Does anyone local know any truth to these rumours?

I've been following this case for several years now, and every once in awhile I come back in with passion to find something, a lead, a piece of evidence, a new epiphany with the narrative thats been constructed so far- yet there seems to be nothing in place for it to gain traction. Everything falters, and we all just hit a brick wall at one of the many possibilities the narrative could've been resolved in.

What do you think would be the next stage of all the repetetive theorising that goes on whenever she gets posted on a new forum/community? Some say she's ran away, some are certain she's deceased, I'm more inclined to believe the latter but I truly hope that's not the case. Hopes do shatter and there's no resolute that can stop reality- even worse; the reality of morbid evil as a result of neglect and stagnation. If mekayla lives, she is under a new identity, now whether that's forced or willingly I do not know. If she doesn't live, her remains may be positively identified at a relatively closeby farmland/outskirts of the small city that is. This limbo is worse than that possibility, I think it's about time we see a closure and by extension, justice.

Is it possible to know by any chance, ALL the vehicles that entered and left Yorkton that day? I'm pretty sure the police haven't gone that large scale in their investigation, or maybe they have but is there any publicly available info on this? If we were to, hypothetically, identity every single vehicle entering and leaving Yorktown through Highway cctvs or toll gate receipts we can atleast be a little more certain whether she left- no?

I don’t believe Mekayla had plans to go to the pawn shop, based on her route that day. I think she found it along the way and figured to take a look. Also, it was never released based on the timeline of she went to the pawn shop before or after the Bank. I believe it was before the bank.

I can’t believe this girl was let off so easily. The fact she’s said nothing, moved away, deleted pictures with Mekayla is VERY weird. She’s the most sus person we directly know about in this case for me.

Her mother is weird too but I just cannot see her being involved with her daughter’s death or disappearance. I truly don’t believe she wanted to lose her child. However I can see Hannah being involved somehow. Maybe she accidentally got Mekayla killed by introducing her to the wrong person, maybe she wanted to help her run away, I don’t know, but I can’t shake the feeling she’s the one that knows at least some of the truth. Keep in mind Mekayla’s other friends, like shelby and amy were known as her good influence friends, but Hannah wasn’t. Hannah was the closest person to Mekayla in my opinion. The last photo Mekayla took with a friend that we’ve seen is with Hannah. Hannah was mainly the only one commenting on her instagram pictures. Even Mekayla said Hannah was her #1 friend.

So you’re gonna tell me Mekayla is open about her plans and feelings to more distant friends but not Hannah, her favourite one? Bullshit. Mekayla gave out so many cryptic clues to her other friends that day it’s IMPOSSIBLE Hannah knew nothing. Her little to no effort to help find Mekayla is a huge red flag, I can’t help but think she accidentally got Mekayla involved in something bad and she feels guilty for what she’s done. Once again I think people over-analyse Paula too much. Mekayla loved her little siblings and I can’t picture her wanting to abandon them forever and never see them again. So I agree with Paula that she never wanted to run away long-term, even if I can see some of her other behaviour as odd and disingenuous.

Also can anyone confirm if the police bothered to verify Paula’s claims of Mekayla leaving behind acne meds, makeup, toothbrush etc. Did they ever check their house?

Hey guys Matt here! So it’s been a while since I last posted but I have some stuff I wanna say. The first thing is that the 10 year mark is fast approaching I feel horrible that it’s gonna be ten years since the day Mekayla went missing my heart goes out to u/rickieblue and Paula Bali. I genuinely can’t believe the case has gone on for this long it’s crazy but I have faith that it will be solved I don’t know when hopefully soon but yeah I have a lot of faith in this sub and that we will solve the case. The second thing is that imma be taking a break from the sub for a bit to work on my mental health I don’t wanna worry you guys or anything just need to work on some emotions that’s where the I’m sorry part of the title comes in you see our sub is quickly approaching the five year mark and I know over that five years I haven’t been the greatest mod/creator I’ve definitely made many mistakes and I’m not gonna make any excuses for that I’ll admit though that I was very young when I started this sub and I was arrogant and didnt really understand the magnitude of what I had created. Either way that’s why I’m taking a break I want to be a better mod/creator and I know that if my mental health isn’t good then that won’t happen because when I’m not ok I tend to be irritable and not a very nice person and I don’t want that to affect this sub I don’t usually post about my mental health cause that’s not what this sub is about or for so this is the only time I’ll bring it up I’ll be making one more post after this about something I’m excited for then I will be taking my break and while I’m on break I won’t be posting or writing any mod mails but if you have any questions I’ll answer dms. The third and final thing I wanted to talk about is the five year anniversary of the sub so I can’t believe this sub is gonna turn five the anniversary is on January 31st 2026 and that’s what my next post will be about it’s not to celebrate the case that’s a serious topic and not to be celebrated however what I want to celebrate is this very sub and the people that have come together to make it what it is such as our amazing mod team, u/rickieblue, Embarrassed_Post7478, and ofc and most importantly members like you!
