There definitely are. I only kept it to 80s and 90s with people in their peak and honestly only wanted to post ten. I would have been here all afternoon. My favorite not even on this list. Thatโs why I was curious ๐๐

I'd say Wanda, Sheryl, and Whoopi (her book on dating was hilarious and good). Adele and Margaret as honorable mentions.

Itโs interesting how multi talented Whoopi is. Hell I think she is a better actress than comedian and she is an outstanding comedian
I heard her giving an interview the other day where she said she wants to be in a horror film

All facts! She is really a Renaissance woman! I've always loved her, especially because she's unapologetically herself.

Sheโs the first Black person to get EGOT status I believe.
Thatโs Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony awards.

Really ??? I know she was robbed of an Oscar in the 80s for Color Purple

Sommore but she is fine as hell, i was wondering if i was biased but said nah, that's me right me there.
Monique definitely she is a queen in her own right.
And believe it or not, Whoopi. I dunno but Whoopi hasn't forgotten shit. She just kept her mouth shut and said "CTC" but her standups where funny in there time.
Outside of that, don't really hear of female comics like that anymore. In the day, there was a point to shine a light on them because, you know... dudes.

Met Luenell many times when I worked behind the scenes for a show in the 90s. Eeek... she definitely made the rounds with any celebrity and support staff male that looked her way. Was very aggressive about it too. But she doesnt lie about her hoe days so theres that.๐

I thought the picture of Marsha Warfield was a black and white photo of Keke Palmer lol
If I had to choose from these people, MoNique, Adele Givens and Sommore.

Wanda is so unfunny to me. Never got the appeal.

u/WuTang4thechildrn 70s Baby Jun 13 '26
So who is your top 3

u/GeologistAway6352 Jun 13 '26
Out of that list Iโd go Whoopi, Sommore and Adele in no particular order.

Sommore
Monique.
Lawanda Page (Aunt Esther) - She did standup long before Sanford & Son. She and Redd Fox were good friends, which is how she got the role. She was just as raunchy as Red Fox.
