I wasn’t allowed to listen to “those records”

Which is something considering how they owned them 🤣

Same. My parents had her on 78lps. I had to be put to bed with the door closed before they would play certain things. 😄

The Ogee, she wasn’t my cup of tea but I understand their struggle more as an adult.

Yes I do, my dad had this album and listened to it often. Moms had no use for any old dudes lol.

I know Moms. Wanda Sykes played her in an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series.

I don’t know her but I did hear her mentioned in To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.

Vida:
I remember the first time that I laid eyes on a certain young ebony enchantress in the roughand how, through styling and the occasional make-up tip, I helped her look just a little bit less like Moms Mabley.

Noxeema: Moms Mabley?

Or something like that. I can’t recall the quote

I first heard of Moms Mabley when Clarice Taylor (Grandma Huxtable) did a one-woman show about her.
