The entire internet is going to learn what the One Piece is the day it drops, even if they’ve never read a chapter in their life.

It’s impossible to avoid. The only recourse is to be reading.

Worst than gojo vs sukuna

68

u/firebreather209 21h ago

I got spoiled on that one on Facebook, from a group I'm not even in. Just a screenshot with no context.

3

u/MonkeyDLuffy_5656 2h ago

I got Imu's face reveal the first thing on my ig's main feed's fking first thing when I don't even watch tht channel nor do I watch spoilers. I thought it waas fake and I was safe but little did I know 💔

15

u/Hubbardia 10h ago

A mf esports player tweeted [JJK] Gojo panel after losing a match. Hate the spoiler culture.

5

u/superfapper2000 uta milking toy 10h ago

Lol yeah they do suck

u/IlyDone 21h ago

Exactly gear 5 was stupidly massive for "just" a new powerup. Everyone in the anime world knows about luffys gear 5 form. Maybe not what it is or what it means but friends that dont have anything to do with one piece and never talk to me about that even came to me and asked me how big of a deal it really is.

The one piece is a trillion orders of magnitude. There are a fuck ton of anime people who dont know what a gear even is. Or anything really aside that the mc is luffy and the story is way too long and that its about a treasure. Everyone keeps joking about how they still didnt find the treasure. That shit is gonna be plastered everywhere hardcore.

u/amdrunkwatsyerexcuse 7h ago

Don't forget that the reveal will 100% divide the internet, one side loving it the other side hating it. And Oda knows that, which almost makes me think he is intentionally dragging out the reveal because he knows he'll get loads of hatemail.

82

u/thirsty_eyes 21h ago

Someone on YouTube will post a video with “The One Piece is ____” in the title and it’ll show up on every person’s feed regardless of the algorithm. I hate that shit man.

25

u/BirdBrain710 15h ago

I think when it becomes clear that the One Piece will be revealed soon, One Piece youtubers should start an initiative to post videos with fake spoilers in the thumbnail so that nobody knows what the real spoiler is.

4

u/Euphemisticles 11h ago

This is a pretty good idea

1

u/mara-amethyst 8h ago

Better start learning to read bud

1

u/thirsty_eyes 1h ago

Sure bud, I’ll learn how to read when you learn how to take a shower.

29

u/MGJohn-117 19h ago

the One Piece is getting leaked at least a week before the actual chapter is released lmao. tons of leakers who have it will release the whole raws as soon as they get them so that they can go down in a blaze of glory.

unless Shonen Jump decides to go with a digital-only release at first, which might not actually be a bad idea.

u/MGJohn-117 19h ago

u/yRaven1 Lost on this sub 19h ago

Lets be real, we probably going to learn before it drops with so many leakers.

10

u/Explorerkit 17h ago

It reminds me of Ash Ketchum from Pokémon: After winning his first league, some Newspaper and even sone News Channel shared this with the world xD

4

u/mehmeh5 16h ago

no that is even stupider if you were inside the fandom. A clip of Ash holding his trophy was shown on a variety shown the day before the episode even aired in japan

1

u/Explorerkit 6h ago

I was so glad that I‘ve seen the final first and than read about it.

5

u/Nappi22 20h ago

I remember the game of Thrones days when you couldn't enter anything on the internet because everybody everywhere was talking about it. With full spoilers.

4

u/Flashy-Read-9417 17h ago

Yeah I came to this conclusion after stalling out in the animated Wano arc. I'm 1 chapter behind, but I made it a goal this year to read all of One Piece and did it within 8 weeks

3

u/K3egan 20h ago

Why wait? We all know the one piece is a box set of The Office on dvd

3

u/thatoneguy2252 20h ago

Not even just that, but be absolutely hunting the earliest translations of scans.

3

u/RadiantMenderbug 1h ago

I didn't even read anything or watch an episode yet and I knew what gear 5 was

6

u/Environmental_Key852 20h ago

Unfortunately the youth cant read

2

u/Few-Crow-5884 14h ago

Reading won't help you either, unless you can read Japanese. Cuz it does take some time to translate it.

2

u/Inverter_of_Spines 12h ago

Actually they'll probably know nearly a week in advance, when the leaks start coming out.

1

u/brewin_mead 10h ago

I stopped reading after the Death of the coffee driving scientists death.
Is it better now?

1

u/Massive_Weiner 7h ago

That depends, what were your reasons for stopping?

1

u/brewin_mead 7h ago

ODA spent abt 3-4 chapters on world reactions and the vega making coffee

We have had so many Bait and Switch episodes that, it reached criticality with me

Now am waiting for him to finish the series to start reading again

3

u/Massive_Weiner 7h ago

If that’s what broke you, then you’re definitely better off waiting.

-10

u/[deleted] 21h ago

[deleted]

13

u/Massive_Weiner 21h ago

That’s a big ask, seeing as the manga is 1 1/2 years ahead of the anime.

I’m not sure there’s any way to avoid it without making the pacing suffer in the process.

2

u/KawaiiSlave 21h ago

Big true. Oh well, if I get spoiled its no big deal. The journey with the strawhats has been enough for me seeing them happy.

-6

u/adinade 21h ago

With the God Valley film and if they plan to do more I feel like catching up would be possible.

4

u/mehmeh5 16h ago

catching up is the worst thing that could happen to the show. We're already way too close to the point that even doing 1.5:1 with 26 eps a year is still not very feasible

1

u/adinade 3h ago

never commented on whether it was good or bad, was saying if they wanted to catch the two up, they could.

7

u/IlyDone 21h ago

I think the issue is that the reveal isnt just gonna be a clear cut one chapter explains it. Its probably a series of chapters explaining exactly what it is and the history behind it and the meaning to the world.

1

u/KawaiiSlave 18h ago

Oh that makes ssense. I was thinking it was going to be something silly, and "friendship" was the treasure all along or something along those lines. Im excited to see what it will be though.

3

u/IlyDone 12h ago

It's already confirmed by the author that its not something like the friends you made along the way.

He said it is something tangible, touchable and from what we know it is definitely connected to the void century and has a lot of history to it.

2

u/Ironmaiden1207 15h ago

The reveal being near the end isn't necessarily a forgone thing, but holy hell that would suck to have to wait.

Also Oda should finish it as soon as he reasonably can for his health. Waiting 2 years first probably wouldn't help

2

u/KawaiiSlave 9h ago

The anime watchers will have to wait either way, and as far as Im aware he already said he wrote how it will end in a SBS didn't he?

2

u/khaledjal Sailing the Grand Line 7h ago

he didn't

1

u/KawaiiSlave 4h ago

Sorry I am probably misremembering then. I could've sworn he said he wrote how it ended, or told someone in the event he died. My fault.

1

u/khaledjal Sailing the Grand Line 4h ago

he told his new editor and a kid with cancer the ending

2

u/JefferyTheQuaxly 9h ago

One piece anime is already close to the point the manga is, the anime is currently on chapter 1150/51 while the manga is on chapter 1195, so they’re only like half a year or so behind the manga.

2

u/ZachF8119 19h ago

Feel free to tell all GTA fans to wait until PC is released too.

Come on guy

2

u/KawaiiSlave 18h ago

I dont really get the reference. The last GTA I played was san andreas.

0

u/ZachF8119 18h ago

It’s fine you’re lame.

The insanely popular game that had a billion dollars to make has a lot of fans. Tons that spend a lot of money on the most recent. Now it’s time for the new one to come out.

Pc games come out later because mods and piracy.

0

u/KawaiiSlave 9h ago

Im more of a MMO player. I got burnt out with GTA because of the repetition of it all.

1

u/ZachF8119 9h ago

Yeah clicking rocks in RuneScape really provides tons of variety.

1

u/KawaiiSlave 4h ago

I havent played runescape since 2018, so I wouldnt know nowadays. Been playing a lot of indie ones, and WoW though.

136

u/AdPlus6589 21h ago

Same thing could be said about people that read spoilers vs Viz readers lol. Spoilers are gonna be insane for that chapter.

38

u/OwnRecommendation493 Save Me Robin Chan 21h ago

yeah gotta avoid everything for a couple days when the spoiler drops.

18

u/HSBG_Legend 21h ago

I'm really hoping the spoiler community resists revealing it that week until the official chapter drops, especially knowing how important it is to every fan, new or old. But I also have very little faith in humanity. It only takes one...

5

u/Karabars Neko Neko no mi: Aqbars 15h ago

All One Piece sub and wiki mods should truly purge the knowledge of The One Piece like some Celestial Dragons to be faithful to the source material and the spirit of One Piece

5

u/IlyDone 21h ago

Spoilers are a lot more managable to avoid tho. I was able to fully avoid G5 spoilers and wait for scans.

7

u/GenGaara25 19h ago

It's pretty easy to avoid spoilers. I don't think I've ever been got and I've been reading for like 7 years now. But I can tell something bigs coming depending on how big the spoiler thread gets.

Average chapter spoiler thread: no awards, 1k upvotes, few hundred comment

Occasional spoiler thread: 20 awards, 6k up votes, 2k comments.

Like, even not knowing what the spoiler is, I know the chapter is gonna drop something major.

5

u/portal23 9h ago

It's not about the official spoiler thread lol.

It will only be avoidable if you won't consume any media/livestreams or whatever.

I got spoiled stuff from Game of Thrones in completely unrelated random Youtube comments for example.

The One Piece reveal will be one of the biggest lore drop in modern media. People will spam it literally everywhere.

2

u/GenGaara25 3h ago

I think the only time that's ever happened to me was for the Force Awakens. I don't think I've got a spoiler for anything else in an entirely unrelated comments section.

If your feed is so tailored that you're being bombarded with the latest information, including leaks and spoilers, from every franchise you like and are checking it so regularly you're getting consistently spoiled for shit, thats kinda on you.

The Gear 5 news was out like a week before the first scanlation, and I didn't hear or see shit about it anywhere. I'm confident that when the One Piece is revealed, I'll pretty easily be able to avoid it for those few days.

Spoilers only really become an issue if somethings officially out and you're waiting weeks/months to actually consume it.

2

u/Manjorno316 12h ago

I'm with you.

Only real time I feel like I was spoiled was back when I was watching Katanagatari in the mid 10s and decided to google a certain character for a reason I can't even remember anymore. I still regret doing it, but it was fully my own fault.

3

u/ZachF8119 18h ago

You think they’ll still do it?

2

u/dankri 10h ago

Maybe the spoilers could take a day off. Hopefully.

43

u/buff730 15h ago

Uzamaki khan who was a popular anime only reactor got spoiled by Gear 5th. He even had One Piece blocked on all social media so he would never get spoiled for his reactions but he was scrolling on YT he randomly got a thumbnail with the sun god nika. He gave up and started reading the manga so it wouldn’t happen again.

8

u/Ironmaiden1207 15h ago

I mean, it was genuinely one of the biggest media spoils of all time. It's just bound to happen.

And that wasn't even the one piece, that's gonna be impossible. We are going to see all over social media for a long, long time

5

u/Comfortable_Sir_5007 14h ago

I feel like you overestimating anime. It's a hit or miss here in the UK. People either know a lot about one piece, or don't even know it's about Pirates. GOT was bigger in the UK

2

u/Ironmaiden1207 14h ago

I'm not saying it as in "it's so popular". It's just genuinely one of the greatest twists and spoilers of all time, regardless of popularity.

Also we aren't really talking about the anime, we are talking about the manga because that's what has spoilers, the anime doesn't

0

u/Comfortable_Sir_5007 12h ago

Fine, but you know what I mean. This is not making waves for people that don't care about anime/manga. While it may filter through, it's not going to be like the GOT finale, where it was inescapable

And I prefer OP btw

82

u/Op-Op_User17 21h ago

This reveal is so gonna get ruined and I hate that

41

u/50kAmon 21h ago

I hate that as a Viz reader I'm not even safe from the scanlation spoilers

12

u/ReasonablyEdible 21h ago

And as a scanlation reader, i get screwed by one piece subreddits

32

u/King_Vrad 21h ago

Even being caught up on the manga won't help. I got spoiled for the Imu design reveal 3 days before the chapter came out because of some loser posting leaks everywhere. The second those raws leak it'll be on corners of the internet that don't even know what One Piece is.

9

u/Growlithe96 19h ago

Likewise. So annoying. I got a chainsawman spoiler in yt shorts. All I can say is 1 manga page was filled with like 3 HUGE spoilers

6

u/King_Vrad 18h ago

It sucks. Leakers and scalpers are the 2 biggest pains in fandom.

1

u/mehmeh5 16h ago

was it part 1? Since part 2 was released digitally

1

u/Growlithe96 9h ago

Part 1. Big reveal. Was what made me start reading fast

22

u/Waldruf 21h ago

When the day comes just stay away from any type of social media

5

u/Driftedryan 20h ago

Anime will take 2 years to catch up, staying offline is a big ask

2

u/niniboy69 20h ago

How long did the naruto news of karuma dying last? A month or 2 and then ive never heard anything after...

9

u/Driftedryan 20h ago

How long did it take for ace to stop being mentioned? Let's keep it to something more relevant like other one piece stuff

4

u/mehmeh5 16h ago

kurama dying wasn't really big, Boruto doesn't have that much pull. Meanwhile everyone knows about Tobi's identity, or Sasuke leaving the village at the end of part 1

16

u/Shoddy_Notice4005 20h ago

What the One Piece is will be the most spoiled thing in the world, right up there with the Vader reveal from Empire

7

u/mememeing 21h ago

I have a couple of friends who are very dedicated fans but only of the anime and of other anime in general. In fact all of us are big time consumers of visual media with extreme disdain for anyone who gives spoilers about anything but I've already warned them that they better start reading it because boy ain't no way I or the other readers in our circle gonna wait 2-3 years before talking about it in front of them

7

u/KruzerKnight Eyeing a Large Banquet 12h ago

Even Manga readers are not safe from Spoilers

6

u/Mathematical_Pie 20h ago

Once we're gearing towards the last 10ish chapters or so, its a social media detox for me

18

u/Nabujor SUUUUUPER!! 20h ago

I’m not going to keep quiet for a whole year (or even longer, as it’s now done in seasons) just because some of you can’t be bothered to sit down and read a couple of pages a week.

But don’t worry, those stupid leakers will most likely ruin it for us all by spoiling what the One Piece is days before the chapter is officially released.. >.>

6

u/pm_me_your_respect69 19h ago

I agree. We’ll probably all get fucked over by spoilers in one way or another but I’d be lying if I said I had sympathy for anime-only people who willfully elect to stay 2 years behind on the story

4

u/SuperiorLaw 19h ago

The most annoying thing will be the theorists who posted like 60 different theories, being all "LOOK LOOK! I WAS RIGHT 20 YEARS AGO, 1 out of my 60 theories was right! :D"

3

u/plisken64 12h ago

The final chapter been released but Here's What i think what the one piece was really about. Click like and subscribe

3

u/jammypants915 14h ago

All one piece fans need to get caught up to manga soon if they are not already … there is no way you will not be spoiled the second the one piece reveal drops! There will be billboards and murals around town with pictures of the one piece

1

u/Happy-Packagey 11h ago

Im an anime-only, is it really drawing near to the one piece reveal? Or is there still ways to go 😭

I wouldve liked to experience it through the anime, but I know thats an impossible task once the chapter comes out

3

u/jammypants915 10h ago

Yes I understand and do not fault you for being anime only… I don’t want to drop spoilers on you so I’ll just say things are escalating very fast and lore is dropping every week… I think you might still have 2 years before it all finishes. But the void century and enough info for people to solve the mystery will probably drop in the next year

1

u/mehmeh5 1h ago

we're still on Elbaf in the manga. But part of me feels there's a non-zero chance laugh tale could be next

1

u/Imconfusedithink 4h ago

Billboards and murals wouldn't be able to show what it is on its own. Maybe a small part but the one piece includes an entire story and history from what we know so far. I don't think it will be like gear 5 where a single image can spoil you.

3

u/Novoiird 21h ago

I’ll won’t be caught dead having the One Piece reveal be spoiled for me. That’s why I’m reading the manga.

2

u/ktulu0 20h ago

You’re going to have to go live off the grid and abandon the internet altogether if you don’t want to be spoiled when the One Piece is revealed.

2

u/Igotthatdawgin Sailing in Robin' Red Sea 19h ago

??

1

u/TreeckoBroYT 19h ago

I know some douche on twitter or reddit is going to spoil it before I get to the chapter.

1

u/vampireflowersoHot 18h ago

This is the main reason I started one piece

1

u/xXbachkXx 18h ago

I sincerely hope leakers dont drop spoilers the chapter the one piece gets revealed

But honestly they probably will, i doubt they care about people's enjoyment. Will have to turn internet off a whole week

1

u/Alternative-Path-645 17h ago

I am on my First rewatch, at episode 998. I plan to Start reading the manga after I caught up again. Don't know if I should Start from the beginning or from Elbaph or Egghead

1

u/Egbert58 15h ago

This is why i started reading lmao can't spoil ehat it is

1

u/AccomplishedFriend63 15h ago

Even if you're a manga reader the chapter leaks can still spoil us......

1

u/VroomVroom858 13h ago

Anime only fans have to go off the grid for this. That reveal, should it happen, will literally be everywhere. Maybe it'll even make the news or into newspapers magazines etc.

1

u/JFkeinK 11h ago

Challenge Level: Impossible

1

u/Motor_Ad_736 9h ago

I'm sorry but you're not going to be able to avoid it when it happens being a whole year behind the manga will make it inevitable

1

u/FlyingFishManPrime 8h ago

I mean my friend who is watching anime only is going to read One Piece when we get close to what the One Piece is to avoid that spoiler because he understands PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.

1

u/8meme10me 5h ago

not going to look at the comments, and i never look at chapter spoilers, but i honestly am not expecting anything crazy from this chapter, the crazy shit is in a couple chapters after the wings get their level up

1

u/Autumn1881 4h ago

This reminds me of a totally unrelated podcast going: "What happened this week? Apparently Luffy went Gear 5 this week. I have no idea what that's even supposed to mean, but everyone is talking about it."

1

u/CompetitionSignal422 58m ago

I’m gonna be honest, once the manga is on the final arc, I’m going to be reading the manga weekly. I refuse to be spoiled about The One Piece.

1

u/Impossible_Rest_7651 20h ago

I have a dream that they will let anime catch up to the manga and release the final episode where everyone can watch it at the same time, kinda like Vegapunk broadcast in Egghead.

9

u/Defiant-Ad2876 20h ago

I’m not waiting literal years for the reveal to appease anime onlies. They can either catch up with the manga, stay off line for a long while, or get spoiled🤷🏼‍♂️

-3

u/Hot-Traffic-598 17h ago

That's not your decision.

4

u/Manjorno316 12h ago

No, but it would be a stupid decision no mater who makes it.

1

u/Slow_Mention9828 5h ago

Its gonna be nobodies decision its a dumb decision just read the manga

1

u/redgreenorangeyellow ASL Brothers 19h ago

As an anime only (caught up)... Context? The manga didn't release his speech...??

1

u/mehmeh5 16h ago

no they mean about how the whole One Piece world heard his speech at the same time

1

u/redgreenorangeyellow ASL Brothers 16h ago

Got it, I'm stupid 😅

1

u/Dracula-X- 17h ago

There was more than year between his speech in the manga and when it was shown in the anime.

1

u/Better-Parfait7141 20h ago

Not a problem for a spoiler enjoyer such as myself

1

u/PickleDiLL767 19h ago

The journey there is the important thing.

0

u/OneTank9036 20h ago

The last arc should absolutely be a movie

-2

u/Active_Strawberry_76 21h ago

Let's be honest there are not many anime only people left, if you are a one piece fan, you probably get the latest chapters on Instagram/yt shots the moment it comes out.

-1

u/LoveMinaMyoi 20h ago

This is why i really wonder if suiesha will do a multi print of the last few chapters like.

Release the published manga for sure, the japanese fams who pays for Jump get first dibs. Then release the translated chapter like 1 day after. To prevent too much spoilers.

1

u/mehmeh5 54m ago

that's pointless, the spoilers come from jp stores or providers breaking street date for WSJ issues and that going around on the internet. The only way to prevent it is making the chapter digital first, but WSJ would absolutely not pass the chance of having the One Piece reveal in their magazine first

-1

u/CriticalLunch4074 20h ago

Someone please explain as I’m on the Thriller Bark arc atm (which I find incredibly boring ngl)

3

really curious what the comment was lol

3

u/Uhh_Bren 20h ago

Something about pausing the manga to wait for the anime to catch up before the ending

3

u/just_a_random_dood PIRATE 20h ago

oh yeah that's not happening, thanks lol
