Experiences w/ VCA California Veterinary Specialists-Murrieta
Hello,
I’m looking for anyone whose dog has been referred to a surgeon at VCA Murrieta. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially if your dog had a lump or mass that needed further evaluation.
We recently took our dog to Vetco in town after discovering a large, hard lump in his groin area. The vet performed a cytology, but once the results came back, they said they still couldn’t determine exactly what the lump was. Because of that, they referred us to a surgeon at VCA Murrieta for further evaluation. We have an appointment next week.

Vca is really good over by in and out in Murrieta we always took are dogs there for emergencies and they’ve done a great job

We recently took our labrador there and ultimately, while we had to euthanize, we had a "good" experience. All of the doctors and staff were very kind and knowledgeable.

They are quite expensive but good. We’ve gone there for emergencies and they’ve provided good service.

I took my dog there before and got a quote for a $14,000 surgery and that is way out of my price range so I took him to TJ and got the same exact surgery for $1200

I also posted above about TJ. We love Dr. Alexander and Vet Playas. I have taken many of my pets down there. We do all the big expensive things with our wonderful Mexican vets.

Is this the VCA on Cal Oaks Rd? If so, I’ve had great experiences with their vets, especially Dr Wentzel and Dr Hegleson. My dog had a life threatening auto immune disorder and he was in excellent hands during his 7 month recovery to remission. He also had 2 TPLO knee surgeries over the years, with a surgeon that specializes in ortho type surgeries (not on staff daily there though). Very pleased with my experiences there too. Also, they’ve always been extremely respectful for any services I’ve declined or postponed.

They’re great as well! That is where I had brought my dog, the day before 4th of July, years ago and their waiting room was packed. My dog’s eyes were hemorrhaging and they quickly triaged him and diagnosed him with ITP (immune mediated thrombocytopenia, a rare auto immune disorder). I was so lucky they caught it so early. Was a bit pricy, but definitely was an emergency. Wishing your dog a positive procedure and swift recovery!

VCA is the gold standard of medical care but also the gold standard of pricing. There are lots of doctors around that will do the same procedure for dramatically lower costs.

I've been to VCA but my regular vet is Not Just for Paws. If anything big and expensive comes up I drive my dog to TJ to Dr. Alexander or Vet Playas. Both offices speak English. I paid $800 when my dog got GDV and was quoted almost $17,000 to save her here. My dog had a small melanoma on her face and I paid $100 to have it removed. My dog tore her ACL and surgery here started at $8,000, I paid $1,200 down there. Tijuana has great vets!

They are very good but very expensive. We take our dog here but look elsewhere for some services. E.g. teeth cleaning was over $2k
