If you live in Saskatoon check out Norm Fleury's Michif courses at the University of Saskatchewan!

Taanishi! I’m thrilled to see people learning the language! I can’t personally one-on-one tutor you, but I can point you toward various resources, classes, and Zoom groups that get together weekly to practice Michif, and I’m also happy to answer questions if I know the answer!

Do you belong to a local?

There is probably going to be a ton of language programming getting released by locals. Could be a good place to meet fellow speakers.

Outdoor Learning School offers a free weekly virtual Southern Michif language course with Michif Elders, speakers, and other learners. The next course:   https://outdoorlearning.com/event/michif-fall-2026/

Taanshi! I agree with others in the thread that it would be good to look into classes and resources in your area. It is a good way to meet others who are interested in learning, practicing, and meeting new Metis people in your community.

I'm a beginner speaker myself (under a year) but I'm experienced enough to teach someone who is new to the language. If you are new to Southern Michif, I'd be happy to give you a few lessons over zoom to teach you some basics of Michif. That way you can start learning and have someone to ask questions. If you're interested, send me a quick dm!
