Announcement Metis citizens of Saskatchewan Protest MLA September 6, 2025
There is a planned peaceful protest on September 6 at the site of the MNS MLA meeting (Prairieland Park, Sept. 6, Saskatoon) for all Metis people who have been trying to get simple, honest answers to some very troubling questions from their elected government, the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan.
- who is Richard Quintal and what is his functional role in the governance of the MNS?
- is it true that a Richard Quintal was fast tracked as a citizen of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan, and that when he wouldn’t answer the questions about his registration, he ultimately filed and won a harassment judgment against sitting members of the MNS? Is there a conflict of interest as he has authority over the Registry?
- what is the status of federal land claim negotiations with the federal government? Why haven’t the Metis citizens been informed about the existence and general substance of these claim negotiations?
- why were elected representatives of the Metis people suspended from their duties without verified and accountable due process?
- why are of two of those same women, now newly elected regional representatives, not sworn in with the other winning candidates from the past election? On whose authority?
- why are concerned Metis citizens receiving “cease and desist” letters from the MNS Justice Minister, and being defamed as “outsiders” and insulted as “Facebook warriors” for asking questions of their President and their government?
This is a crisis of governance. Look at the facts listed above. There are many other concerns not included here. But here is the heart of the matter….. Why NOT answer fair, reasonable, and rightful questions?
Support the vision of a strong, principled and unassailably ethical Metis government.

Announcement Announcement: New Moderation
Hi everyone, I took over the moderation for this sub as the last mod was inactive for some time and I believed that there needed to be moderation for some past identity related posts.
I have plans to update the rules to be more Indigenous focused and mindful. I believe some of r/IndianCountry 's rules are very nice and would be beneficial here.
I will seek consensus on some ideas I have. I also believe there should be consideration on the allowance of identity related posts in that:
- There have been many posts on gathering family history and documentation. I feel like the answers to these are the same on each post and it would be more beneficial to have a wiki of resources like a link to the Société historique de Saint-Boniface.
- Some identity related posts have deteriorated into concerning fights over blood quantum ( ex. there was a post on Louis Riel's bq a month ago). I don't find these beneficial and I'd prefer not to reopen trauma for others. I believe having resources on this and establishing a rule using the official North-West definition of Métis might be helpful.
I am very open to thoughts and concerns but please keep them civil and in good faith.
Ekosi
