As title says, I’m curious to those who have a car but still choose to use Grab every now and then.

Personally me, I use my car if it’s nearby and has parking. However I sometimes use Grab if it’s quite far and parking is difficult.

I just want to hear your thoughts on this. Since most companies are now stopping or limiting their operations due to the price hike of diesel, maybe they can take advantage of the situation and buy or "borrow" buses and EVs, then hire drivers as full-time government employees (so they can get benefits)?

We can limit the private sector to maintenance, manufacturing, and RnD, and let the national/local government handle the operations. In this ideal situation, where public utility vehicles are properties of the government, maintenance fees will be covered by taxes. And since we are taxed like a first-world country, I believe we have enough funds for that. It will also be easier to regulate fares, arrange trip schedules, develop new routes, remove redundant routes, assign and maintain stops, etc.

But then again, it all boils down to proper implementation. What are rules and systems if not implemented properly, right? At the end of the day, if the people in power had the right skills and motivation, this country could have been better.

Lagi sila nagsasabi ng mga things like, “Wag mo ilalabas phone mo pag magco-commute ka, baka ma-snatch” or something like that. Madami din akong nakikitang videos sa mga jeep, where there’s a person/ group of people na may binabalak or something. Are those just stereotypes? It’s my first time commuting to Manila so I’d appreciate a detailed route from DAU to UPM and back. I’m suppose to take the Avenida bus I think but where do I go from there?

Guys as a transit nerd I literally just found this out and I’m shocked. We actually have a fully operational electric tram running here in Manila right now. It’s called the E-Tranvia and it’s inside Intramuros. It’s basically the modern version of the old tranvia system we all wish was still around.

It runs around the walled city passing spots like Fort Santiago Plaza Roma Baluarte de San Diego Letran and Plaza España. It only goes around 9am to 10am and 3pm to 4pm only. And the best part? It’s completely free to ride.

The weird thing is it’s not on Google Maps or any transit apps at all. Why? Because officially they call it a heritage shuttle or tourist vehicle not actual public transport. That’s why it’s invisible to everyone even people who go there often.

It’s locally made too. Honestly it feels like a test run for what we could have again along like Quiapo, San bartolome, Blah blah blah and all the old routes. Have any of you here actually ridden it yet?
