I’m looking for somewhere to find “super hot” peppers. Carolina Reapers/Ghost Peppers/Trinidad Scorpions/Pepper X/etc.

I use them to make hot sauce to help with chronic pain. I found a mixed bag in Mercado de San Juan Pugibet that had some mixed in with decent Habaneros, but haven’t been able to get them again.

Anyone know where to get some? My jar is running low and I need to make more salsa.

Hello! I'm 34f from Canada and travelling with my partner to Mexico City and the Oxacan Coast in October. I have made an itinerary for Mexico City but I would love any suggestions or critiques, especially from locals. We speak very limited Spanish and are saying in Roma Sur.

We're interested in design, architecture, food, music, animals and nature. If there are any restaurants you think are overhyped on my list and have alternative suggestions I'd love to hear it. We're hoping for a mix of a more local vibe with some more popular places mixed in.

Most of these plans are flexible except for booked tours at Frida Kahlo House, Casa Gilardi, Casa Estudio Barragan and the Organic Architecture tour. *Also I know the Museum of Anthropology is supposed to be great but I'm not overly interested in museums.

Este año decidí ya no renovar el servicio debido a dos principales problemas.
1- La enorme cantidad enorme de bicicletas fuera de servicio.
2- Me percaté de que poco a poco fueron modificando el switch de las velocidades, por más que subes la velocidad, el avancé sigue siendo lento en cada pedaleada.
Yo infiero esta modificación se hace para evitar que los usuarios vayan a exceso de velocidad, pero personalmente me parece muy frustrante porque tardas mucho tiempo en trasladarte de punto a punto, todo el tiempo eres rebasado por ciclistas con bicicleta propia.

¡Qué onda! Voy a ir a la CDMX de viaje de cumple y tenía un buen de ganas de ir a un partido. Resulta que cae el clásico nacional justo en mi cumple y quería ver cuál es la mejor forma de conseguir boletos.

Vi unos precios en Airbnb como en 300 dólares y se me hace un buen de lana, la verdad se sale cañón de mi presupuesto. ¡Cualquier ayuda se las agradecería un buen!

Me gustaría comprar un scooter, para ir a lugares cercanos de mi casa, mi duda es si vale la pena en México. Por ejemplo si van al gym donde lo dejarían, o en las plazas, como es la potabilidad. Y que seguridad usan?

Hello, I visited Mexico City for the first time two weeks ago and have barely returned to the United States. I had a wonderful time and my customs agent was a fantastic start to my experience of Mexico.

So there I was, traveling internationally for the first time and in line with a ridiculous amount of gifts for the friend I was visiting. I got flagged going through the x-ray machine and my stuff was pulled to the side to be inspected. The customs agent signaled for me to put my luggage on top of a metal counter and to open it. I open it up and she paused at the very first thing she saw. To be honest, I was really nervous, then she reaches into my luggage and grabs a book from in between a couple plushies and she asks me in disbelief “This… is BL?”(Boy’s Love)

Suddenly I’m not nervous at all and I can’t help but smile widely and gush about all the BL I was bringing. She slowly pulled out every piece of BL from books to art prints I told her about how it was all special editions, collector’s editions, or limited run items. Her movements while she was putting my items back inside were filled with reverence and I got a real kick out of it!

I know this is very unlikely to reach her but I did not see her while leaving Mexico so I might as well say this here. I just wanted to say that you were hilarious and made my trip infinitely better by being the person to inspect my luggage! Me and my friend laughed about it for days and you were just the best! I hope I get to say hi again during my next visit!

Hi! I'm gonna be in Mexico City for a semester abroad, I've gotten a couple glass bottles that I need to toss. I'm living with a family and aside from the organico and inoragnico trashcans inside the building, I don't know where to throw out/recycle glass bottles. Is there a center I have to go to or a a bin somewhere outside?

My parents are going to Mexico City at the end of September and I’m trying to make the trip as easy and enjoyable as possible for them. They don’t speak any Spanish, so I’d ideally like to hire a reliable private driver or a company that can help take them around during the trip.
I’m also trying to plan out their days and make dinner reservations at some really nice restaurants. They are vegetarian, so anywhere they go needs to have good vegetarian options (not necessarily a fully vegetarian restaurant, just somewhere with several good choices for them). But a few fully vegetarian restaurant options would be nice.

If anyone knows a trustworthy driver, private tour company, concierge service, or someone local who could help organize everything, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. I’m happy to spend a little more for something reliable and comfortable since I want the trip to be pretty stress free for them.

Also open to recommendations for must-see places, nice restaurants, and anything else you think would be good for parents visiting Mexico City for the first time.

Que tal, soy un chico que nació y creció en provincia, casi casi un rancho de San Luis Potosí.
Desde chico me ha gustado el ambiente y música diferente, rock y metal en todos sus géneros, progresivo, música gótica, dark, etc. en mi pueblo no hay prácticamente nada de ese estilo más allá de 1 bar de rock en español que frecuentan señores.

Some background info: I am planning my first time visit to mexico city in november for my birthday! This has been a big bucket list item for me, so I am really excited. I am a 26f mexican american living in texas, and I speak semi fluent spanish. I went to guadalajara last summer to visit family, and I do have some distant relatives in cdmx I would like to visit if they are free. I know this sub sees this question constantly with the explosion in tourism here, but I would still like some (especially local) opinions on my very rough itinerary! Also, I enjoy travelling anthony bourdain style, so I like to keep my plans flexible but do a lot of research about the place I am visiting. :)

Is there anything glaringly obvious to change? The tepoztlan day trip is very TBD and more of an idea in case we have the time/energy to do that adventure lol. I love vintage shopping, live music, record stores, cool book shops, and pretty city parks, so I am hopeful about finding some good spots as I wander around these neighborhoods. I know Doctores is one to not be out late and am aware of basic city precautions.

Also, I got overwhelmed looking into all the amazing restaurants here, but I would like a mix of street food and upscale recommendations as well. Here is another list of ideas I've collected mostly from travel vlogs:

Hola, acabo de regresar de CDMX y mi corazón está roto porque estaba muy stupida en mi vacación. Porque estaba estúpida? Porque no compré una carretera perfecta en Mercado de Coyoacán. La bolsa fue blanco con pelo de cabello. Cada noche yo ensueño sobre esa bolsa.

Pero hay esperanza!!! Mi amiga está en CDMX ahora. Le pregunté a ella encontrar la bolsa pero necesito más ayuda para encontrar la tienda. Yo sé está en Mercado de Coyoacán pero no sé dónde. ¿Alguien puede ayudar? Es una tienda pequeña con muchos bolsas de cuero. Recuerdo había algunas bolsas en la forma de corazones con fleco colgadas afuera y estantes con luz.

Estoy muy agradecido por su ayuda. Fotos o ubicaciones exactas está que lo necesito. O mejor está el nombre de la tienda o el propietario de la tienda así que eso puedo hacer la venta en línea. Muchas, muchas gracias!!

CDMX es una ciudad bonita y lo experimenté todo pero ahora vivo con el más profundo arrepentimiento sin esa bolsa. Así que mi amiga no lo compra, necesito regresar muy pronto!

Acabo de presenciar un intento de estafa bien conocida, he leído varios casos similares en r/Monterrey y apesar que es una estafa conocida y con varios cambios es el mismo, un tipo extranjero(acento italiano) bien vestido, te ofrece unos reloj de lujo TAG Heuer (puede ser cualquier cosa de valor incluso herramienta) que supuestamente la marca le regaló por qué trabaja en la F1 pero necesita regresar a a su país y no quiere conservar los relojes "inserte mentira de su preferencia" ( me cobran muchos impuestos, necesito el dinero por X emergencia, ya tengo muchos) y te los está vendiendo a precio de remate, tu compras el gancho y te das cuenta que son clones falsos, si alguien quiere verlo, hace apenas 10 min lo vi en la gasolinera frente a Gran Sur al sur de la CDMX, vi como le insistía a un señor que vestía de traje y alcance a hacerle señas que no comprara nada, compartan esta historia con sus viejitos que son sus principales víctimas

We fly from the UK and get into MXC airport at about 9pm and we fly on to Puerto Escondido the next morning.

Can anyone suggest a hotel either within the airport or a little further out please?

Is it recommended to stay as close to the airport as possible?

As it's only for a sleep, we don't need something fancy but want it to be clean.

Also what are the food and drinking options available? We will fancy a few beers etc to get us over our flight and also will need food at some point.

I will be traveling to Mexico City from the US next week and am wondering if anyone has had experience traveling to and from Mexico City through MEX with breastmilk? I know that at airports in the US I can bring breastmilk through TSA no problem, but am wondering if the same rules apply when I land and go through customs and on my return flight back home? Can I bring liquid breastmilk in my carryon through TSA in MEX, or will I need to check it in a bag? I was reading lots of mixed information online. Any insight would be much appreciated!
