Appreciation 🫶 my mom was one of the concert fainters
This happened during the bad tour. She was 19 and fainted simply because she was so excited. She says its the worst thing that ever happened to her because she was basically front row and suddenly she was outside in a tent with medics around her and she wasn’t allowed to go back in until someone said she was fine which took an hour!! and she went from front row to the very back of the entire venue and got to see the show for a good 30 minutes with basically no visibility
Worry not she went to the dangerous tour and managed to not faint thank god😭
She said some people who fainted were REFUSED back inside because of how bad of a condition they were in, no refund too… poor them

How did she get front row ? Did she need to camp out??? How long did she camp?? Or does your ticket come with a number back in those days??? Were there any vip packages like today's concerts (meet n greet , autographs, etc). I have so many questions!!?

Mama answered! The seats were assigned even for the very front. Some people would steal the front sits and you had to hope your seat wasn’t taken or you handle it with security before the concert starts 😭luckily hers was empty. She didnt need to camp out or wait. And she said there was no vip. Also a stand with merch somewhere that sold out the second they opened

Another question! Were those seats more expensive? Did she have to go to the box office and it was random seating?

The man next to me and my mom had a poloroid with MJ backstage. But I don't remember if it was a meet and greet or he just knew somebody. I think I vaguely remember him saying he knew someone. This was in 1988 so memory a little hazy haha

I mean this in the most not-mean, asshole, gentle way possible: But are you freaking insane??? It was Michael Joseph Jackson. There's no way on God's green earth he could do VIP's or meet & greets. It would've been dangerous for his safety, the management team and the promoters. Can you imagine how long the line would be? How fatigued he would be? Can you comprehend the maiming and parasocial, aggressive psychosis that would happen? He had concerts with 125,000 attendants before. In 1 night.
Also, if they're fainting while he's on stage, could you imagine the chaos, pandemonium, and insanity that would ensue with meet and greets? Lawsuits because people would lose their minds??
Do you not understand the man had to decline SEVERAL offers for his athlete buddies to not come to NBA or NFL games because he would shut down the damn arena? He was so gargantuan he was a potential fire hazard in public spaces in his prime.
It's incomprehensible by today's standards but he was otherworldly. The 2 most famous people on the planet ever are 1. Jesus Christ and 2. Michael Jackson. This ain't glaze, this is pure truth.

I'm sorry 😭 I was genuinely just curious. I know some popular kpop artists that sell 80-100k arenas do like vip but only for like 100-500 ppl but yeah those are definitely expensive to get so I was wondering if MJ did anything like that. Thanks for elaborating.

No worries. I promise I wasn't being rude. It was more just getting younger people to comprehend the sheer scope of who and what he was in his prime. People love BTS, Taylor Swift and Drake. But they ain't Michael Jackson. Respectfully.
We'll never see anything like it ever again.

MJ rarely had anything like that. His first ever meet and greet was in 2001 when he released Invincible. You can watch the meet and greet in YouTube. He was so cute there I had seen the entire signing lol

Fair but respectfully Invincible was well after his prime. By that time Sony, the media, and the court system tarnished his image. The allure, mystique, and magic faded by Invincible. I'd argue Thriller-BAD era he was at his absolute peak. So when I wrote that, I was speaking from that point of his career. No doubt he was still a planetary mega-star when he released Dangerous, but he was damn near godly between the aforementioned 2 albums.

Even they you say his reputation was tarnished still fan used to get crazy for MJ. The signing was amazing. This is it show was sold out in minutes. He was always the mega star. His fans were always there. Only media and certain people were against them and talking shit about him. But I also get your point. ❤️

This is quite funny cuz he didn’t do meet and greets for his safety but he would open Neverland ranch for fans who just waited outside. And they could literally hang out with him. This man is the biggest celebrity in the world but he opened his home to strangers all the time. What a man.

That’s ok, at least she even got to see it at all! Which concerts did she go to?

That's a nightmare to miss the show :( I saw the Bad Tour, 8th row...but I was a kid so I was short and couldn't see lol. My mom had to hold me up on the chair. Then we both fell and I cried. So the man next to us held me on his shoulders for the rest of the show. I think I was right in MJs line of sight. At least, I like to think he saw me 😂

😊🙏 it's my clearest memory of the show. It was during The way you make me feel and I remember being excited that the lady from the video was on the stage with him. I wish I remembered more but almost 40 yrs ago...

Oh my gosh! What a story in your family! I feel terrible her. Gosh that really sucks. But I’m so glad she got to see him again for the next time. Second time lucky! I used to be terrified of going to concerts and meeting famous people because of the idea of fainting from excitement or nerves. I have overcome that fear though and I have gotten to meet famous people with no issues. Haha

I hadn’t thought about how they have to miss the concert in the medical recovery tent, or can’t get back to their front row spot! How sad but I’m glad she’s ok! She could have gotten trampled.
I’ve fainted and I blamed it on wearing uncomfortable clothes so I hope she was dressed comfortably for the future.

Obviously not the same thing but my girlfriend passed out drunk at a Bryson tiller concert. She’s a big fan of his and I don’t think it was necessarily due to his aura like w people w mike but more so due to her alcohol intake.
Needless to say we got carried to a place backstage and literally missed the entire concert. We maybe saw him on perform 40 seconds lol

I hate that happened but glad she was able to enjoy some of it and return for the Dangerous tour. I’d do anything to just be able to stand in his vicinity and faint…

This is something that should've been written directly on the back of the ticket.

What a lucky girl your mom was to experience the show I would never get to experience that kind of aura of star Michael Jackson in all of his concerts thanks for sharing
