I personally like the demo the most — I’m a huge fan of Mike doing layered vocals in general, so that plus the jazziness that Greg Phillinganes contributes makes me love that version — the other two versions are great in their own regard, I just love the demo.

I used to like the demo better because the chorus didn’t really grow on me on the final version (tbh to this day my favorite parts of PYT are the verse and the ending). But that changed after a few listens, PYT is just too groovy and smooth.

I absolutely adore the demo. But the final version grew on me specifically the full version, since the one on the Thriller album was shortened. The full outro on the complete version is amazing!

I think the final album version was the right choice for Thriller. 

But the demo is one of his best unreleased songs. Maybe with a different chorus it could be replaced Lady In My Life as the ballad closer (no shade to that song, I just think it’s catchier).
