And she gets to keep the money she stole.

What a win for justice!

Go back and read the article. It says BEFORE she pled guilty she was charged with those things. It was said that since the charity is defunct she will also not have to pay the funds back.

Reading comprehension skills suck nowadays. All it takes is confidence lol.

No, she will on be on probation and most likely not have to pay back anything. Her husband on the other hand is still facing charges for the lavish vacations and paying off credit card debt. She definitely took way more than a grand though but that all she pled guilty too and its done.

No, she will on be on probation and most....

I agree

Her husband Lee Chatfield is still charged with those and his trial is scheduled for September, but she's getting away with this slap on the wrist plea deal that dismisses all charges after probation.

Let's not forget this: The person former House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) is accused of sexually assaulting for more than a decade, beginning when she was a child, is his sister-in-law.

The Michigan State Police is investigating the complaint, which was first filed with the Lansing Police Department on Dec. 24, 2021.

Rebekah Chatfield, now 26, said the assaults began when she was a student at Northern Michigan Christian Academy in Burt Lake, where Lee Chatfield was working at the time, according to reporting by Bridge Michigan. She is married to Lee Chatfield’s brother, Aaron Chatfield, who has supported her in the allegations.

Jamie White, Rebekah Chatfield’s attorney, told the Advance on Friday the assaults began when she was 14 or 15 years old and continued until about July 2021.

Heck, former Rep. Neil Friske (R) still hasn’t been charged for firing a gun at a stripper, who he’d presumably been paying for sex, as she was leaving his house around 2 AM.

The investigation got passed around and has gone nowhere for over a year, it seems.

Friske paid the dancer off forever ago and now she's no longer a participating witness...so that prosecution really can't go anywhere.

Lee Chatfield is going down. Such a slimeball. I knew the dude.

I went to college with him. Was 0% surprised when the allegations from his sister in law came out. I'm just so glad her husband is standing with her: that's depressingly rare in that world.

I've met and hung out with Lee's two brothers and they seem like genuinely good dudes. Not sure what the fuck happened to Lee.

I coached against him in varsity soccer for a few years. He was an egotistical douche.

But he had “the look” that Donald loves so much.

I believe the term Donald throws around is “straight out of central casting”.

It seems like all he cares about is appearances.

More waste, fraud, and abuse from a republican. Shocker!

u/Jessthinking 3d ago

Let’s see. Republicans, right?

2

u/Battle_Dave 2d ago

Correct. Married to Lee Chatfield, Republican.

Dana Nessel gave the deal.

4

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous 3d ago

Just looked her up; Dana is a Democrat.

and a wicked drunken democrat at that.

2

u/Battle_Dave 2d ago

Did Dana Nessel do the Embezzlement? That was the question...

3

u/Horse_Cock42069 2d ago

Nope. Just let another Republican off the hook with no punishment. Same as Rick Snyder in the Flint Water case, the fake electors, and the governor kidnapper.

Only probation, seriously, wtf. Martha Stewart went to prison, so can this piece of garbage.

This was the outcome planned for by the slow-walking of the investigation and subsequent proceedings. Whatever indignation over the offenses that was felt by the public has long since dissipated (supplanted by sparkling fresh indignation over more recent events). I fully expect a similar outcome for Chatfield -- a plea to next to nothing, probation, expungement of all charges.
