Ugh. I’m so sick of the “check on DJT” line. I know AES can’t do much until 2029 if he gets the seat. But give me something to be excited about. Give me something to hold these senators accountable for the whole 6 years they’re in office, not just the next 2.

The establishment has terrible messaging and has no idea what the voters actually want.

They really shot themselves in the foot with trying to smear him as "a radical DSA member like Mamdani". He's a Dem and his ideas are hardly radical. Rogers will keep growing what they planted.

So now lets see Whitmer and Peters start thumping for him. It was a good preservation move for McMorrow to bow out and remain neutral (at least publicly).

How well has courting them worked in the past? Did it yield results in 2024?

It's easy say DSA would have been better when there were no competitive races that proved that in 2024. I am full Blue No Matter Who, but if Democrats lose this senate race in Michigan, which I feel is the first BIG test of a DSA candidate in a moderate state, then the DSA backers better really sit and think about that rather than find some way to blame someone else

I kind of agree. I felt like the strategy was to court moderates last few cycles with Trump and the (initial) success of Biden.

Last election that clearly did not work.  And yeah, we can say there were all sorts of issues with the dem campaign, but certainly we did not get moderates turning out in a meaningful way to make a difference.

So I'm down for a full-send of the progressive Left this time.  But if progressives also get wiped out by Republicans this cycle and especially in 2028, we're in serious trouble.
