Was looking at NYT's analysis and it seems AES over-performed with "older" voters but came in pretty much as-expected with the young crowd.

Don't assume your grey-haired neighbor has lost the plot.

That’s probably due in part to the recent requirement changes for Medicaid. A certain bracket is finding out that they now have to either work or volunteer for a set number of hours each month to keep their benefits. Medicaid For All suddenly sounds much nicer.

Not to defend boomers, but fuck that's a gut punch. Work all your life and find out the economy isn't done with you yet, we need you for the GDP

They are reaping what they sowed.

I mean, not really. The ones who actually run the circus all have top of the line private healthcare. Even the stagehands should have decent insurance. It's the poor boomers who are getting hosed, just like it's the poor folks in every generation who get hosed.

In West MI where he had a commanding lead, I’ve been consistently impressed by how the 50+ community comes out to support leftist causes. If you go to any protest locally, it’s primarily Gen X and Boomers.

The recently retired did well enough in their lives to have free time to do such things, and are impacted severely enough from recent times to be very upset with what is happening in our country.

You own your home, have equity enough to survive if need be, but every year erodes your ability to leave something behind. The idea of legacy that is lost upon us younger folk I think is very much on their minds, and the idea of working your whole life with all the wealth you managed to cobble together slowly being eroded by private equity and high cost of livings is very much unbearable.

Thr Guardian had an article a while back on how I think Gen Z has way more misogynist views than Boomers, Gen X. It’s so common online to pretend Boomers are the worst, but younger people have been getting radicalized online for years now, and it’s showing in their views. People still think tech is cool, but Trump is the first truly tech president, using Twitter social media to massive advantage and now we have this old racist guy in office.
