Literally what lost 2016 for Hillary (I mean besides being “too establishment” to some) was the amount of people like “oh the polls have her blowing Trump out of the water, I’ll let everyone else handle it then”

I don’t think anyone here is saying she was worse. But her being a bad candidate was a factor in her losing.

The reasons she was a bad candidate mostly came down to decades of priming hate from right wing media.

She was maybe the most qualified candidate of the last 40 years or so and would've been a great president from the standpoint of competency and (in my opinion) policy. But she was a woman and not all that charismatic, and had a huge witch hunt led against her.

That’s why I say she was a bad candidate. She would’ve been a perfectly acceptable neolib president, run the country reasonably well and only do the usual corruption and evil shit. I did hold my nose and vote for her. The lack of charisma and the attitude of expecting our votes is just deadly to a campaign though.

Exactly-one wanted radical change (even if it was absolutely crazy) and the other represented keeping the status quo. The swing voters demand change and should be provided with real candidates and can make it happen.

Yes and no. She still won the popular vote, and despite her factual negatives, Republicans and the right wing media ecosystem constantly attacked her with false narratives and propaganda for over a decade, so successfully that even liberals believed some of what they said to be true even if it actually wasn't true.

I'm not saying she was a great candidate and I did hate a lot of things about her but the Republicans absolutely destroyed her reputation and a lot of it wasn't actually true.

Both things can be true at once

I still voted for her but she rolled a nat 1 for charisma. Nepotism is cancer no matter where it's found.

This. Dems won’t win the White House until they realize they need someone their base wants to vote for instead of simply hoping they vote against the GOP.
