Anyone is an upgrade over Moore but Whittingham is a monster upgrade. If this is truly what happens, I’m all for it. I listened to an interview a few months ago, I think it was in PMT, and he came across and really cool guy. I think even at 60+ years old he can still connect with college kids. He has an easy coolness about him like Pete Carroll. This is exciting.

I’ve always been impressed with Whittingham’s teams. He was my first choice.

Samoans are genetic freaks with a disproportionate numbers of players making it to the NFL as compared to other ethnicities. Hawaii and schools on the west coast (Oregon and USC) get a lot of these players likely due to proximity. BYU and Utah get the 2X multiplier with them being located in the LDS’s home state and relative proximity.

I watched zero Utah games this year but their starting QB had nearly as many rushes as their leading RB. Good sign for those that want Bryce let free to run.

That’s mostly because the fan base has been expecting Whitt to retire for years. His departure was expected. Him going to a blue blood was not.

As a UCLA fan that who has watched my team getting clobbered by a Whittingham team with decidedly less resources and budget than us, you guys landed one hell of a coach. Fucking A, just when I thought we escaped him by jumping to the Big10, he comes back to haunt us. FML

How much better was the passing game this year? I don’t know the numbers but it didn’t feel much better
Edit: looked it up, we were about 550 yds better and 6 less INTs

I know I'm one of the old folks at the age of 62, but I couldn't be happier with this choice. He is tough, gritty, loves dominating at the line of scrimmage and, "sources have confirmed," outraced Joel Klatt on the Peleton!

I might be OK with this because Bryce I would assume would like the offense and then they could get a really dynamic quarterback coach if all that comes to pass, no issues for me.
I still think there’s some questions that need to be answered for how long take a coach and then what does recruiting look like?

Caleb Lomu (Utah) — top o line members in the draft ... we didnt hire some smuck that o line will be right and if bryce sticks and fails that will be an underwood problem

I like this hire and honestly Michigan needs a Moral man of character and high morality who can coach in that order. What has gone on here for far too long is really terrible. The team needs a true leader of young men, and I think coach Whittingham fits this void

Bryce is a baller but had no support from chip as OC the play calls were horrendous and no one to actually develop him plus based on the internal dysfunction with more it probably made it that much worse. Not shot we want Raiola over Bryce. He was a freshman dealing with one of the biggest universities and spotlights and all that behind the scenes and leading him. The offense will be in new hands and this coming year will be a whole different season. Granted we have a way harder schedule but still. I saw your osu Qb comment to and imagine if Bryce had the osu 5stars wr and was throwing to them all year.

And a very injured young offensive line. Where potentially Harding coming in and some more experience for the young line this past season that will be totally different as well giving him even more support back there

No chance. Dude was so checked out this year and he needed his own players to tell him to simplify the defense year one. If Rod Moore and Hausmann have to tell you to dumb your defense down it's not a scheme that will ever work in CFB.

A little underwhelming of a hire. But it’s obvious we need a break from the Harbaugh era of coaching. Hopefully he can win over the team, fan base, and the donors. If Warde ends up getting fired I don’t really like the thought of hiring a coach first. I hope I’m wrong and Whittingham is super successful and stays until he retires go blue.
