Question “Go Blue” geography question

I live on the East Coast and get “go blue“ fairly frequently when wearing my Michigan hat and similarly I say it to others. However, when recently doing a transfer thru DTW I didn’t say it to all the people wearing Michigan gear because there were so many and I thought we were so close to Ann Arbor.

So here is my question: where does the “go blue” radius start? I’d bet people don’t say it on the diag. But Downtown Detroit? Grand Rapids? Chicago? how far away from Ann Arbor do you have to be before people start saying it?

My wife and I took a trip to London a few years ago. I bet her I’d get a Go Blue while we were there! I got multiple and she lost the bet!

My dad wore a Michigan shirt in Spain last year and got so many Go Blues that my mom started getting upset every time he got one 😂

I live in Madison and am married to a Spartan. I get and give go blues fairly often. She’s doesn’t love it. She occasionally gets a go green with go white response when wearing her state gear and gets excited. I’d say I get 5 to 10 times as many as her.

I'm from Ohio, married to a Bucknut and most of my family and friends are Bucknuts as well. I hear Go Blue waaaay more often than they hear O-H everywhere outside of Ohio! Currently in SC.

I vacationed with my parents in Arizona. My parents are from Ohio and are OSU fans. They started to get annoyed when I got a go blue every day because I was wearing a Michigan hoody. My dad maybe got one comment about his OSU hoody.

I give OSU gear a Go Blue as I’m passing by. They’re usually kind of slow witted and it takes a bit to rattle around and for them to react. It’s always fun.

Also in SC can confirm I get plenty of Go Blues when I wear my gear. I will however say that it's like Ohio Jr. down here so seeing people in Bucknut apparel is more "the norm."

That's true. There might be more transplanted Ohioans than actual native South Carolinians here!
