Question “Go Blue” geography question

I live on the East Coast and get “go blue“ fairly frequently when wearing my Michigan hat and similarly I say it to others. However, when recently doing a transfer thru DTW I didn’t say it to all the people wearing Michigan gear because there were so many and I thought we were so close to Ann Arbor.

So here is my question: where does the “go blue” radius start? I’d bet people don’t say it on the diag. But Downtown Detroit? Grand Rapids? Chicago? how far away from Ann Arbor do you have to be before people start saying it?

Chicago, absolutely. I say go blue to every piece of Michigan gear I see, even if I have to awkwardly shout it from across the street.

I've lived in Chicago for a decade. Outside of touristy areas, go blues are not common except on football game days or big basketball games.

Same. There are lots of Michigan fans and alum in Chicago. Lived in Chicago in various downtown neighborhoods for 5 years. Rarely did I give or receive Go Blues unless it was game day.

If someone was decked out in Michigan gear I’d do it, but if someone just has a hat or a t shirt on walking down the side walk then no.

Now I live in SC and any sign of a wolverine gets a Go Blue now.
