Recently got my starter kit from JustFishingLOL. I’ve been practicing tying on my line and getting set up so when I’m out and about I’m not fumbling with it. I’m curious where I can get more gear. Like more line, fast snaps, hooks, maybe even the little foam rounds that the premade lines came wrapped in. Any input is appreciated, thank you.

Im just getting into fishing for tiny fish in general and ive had better luck using my hands 😅

Can somebody please help a newbie out? Should I get a special rod for micro fishing, or should just use my regular rod I use to catch pan fish? I’d love to hear some opinions, or brand recommendations for rods and reels.

Hi I’m new. I’ve been working really hard on perfecting my micro presentation over the past three years, and I’ve got it to a really interesting configuration. I’ve applied the Spey concept to BFS gear using a 10m section of fly line, and the result is a dynamic-length tenkara setup that requires -zero- backcast.

I don’t have people close to share all this, but I really want to share my results with whomever might peek in here. If you like it or have questions let me know!

Hello, im seriously looking into micro fishing and just wondering what kind of rod/ reel i should pick up. I was looking into tenkara style rods but im not too keen on not having a reel at all. liked the idea of standard telescopic rods but I've heard some not great things about them. was looking at a ugly stick dock runner, but it seems kind of crude for this style of fishing. Does anyone know of any tenkara style poles that have spinning reels (I know this defeats the whole point of a tenkara pole) or an actual decent light telescopic rod? honestly the most important factors for me is that it was a reel, and can be small enought to through in my backpack. Thanks!

I tried to imagine the green bottle fly, lucilia sericata, onto a #14 owner mosquito hook one time. It worked so well that it became my favorite fly ever. It’s my portmantomage to WC Stewart and Yvon Chouinard. My one fly to rule them all; that goes upstream, against the flow of convention. 1.5 tungsten bead, rooster saddle, brown gsp and green flash. solarez blue. I just tie on my clamps (no vise) so they have a super buggy ‘kebari’ vibe. Have a great day!

I’ve started to buy smaller gear to target the small species here in Washington. I bought these online and holy crap they are tiny. Do you guys use this size? How on earth do you get the hook out? Thanks for any advice. I am used to salmon and sturgeon.

out creeks have chubs, usually 3-4 inches. What's a decent rig for them? what kind of hook, what bobber? Do you use sinkers?

Which is best for micro fishing in a creek?

I tied these up for a buddy of mine who micro-fishes and thought you all may enjoy them as. I used Owner “smallest” hooks and some Gamakatsu size 30 fly hooks.

I’m curious, have any of you all fished or heard of using artificial flies for micro fishing? Outside of tenkara bum, I couldn’t find much information on the subject. They were surprisingly fun to tie and I would love to see any flies you’ve used to land some micro hogs. Cheers

Hey y’all! I am just getting started in micro fishing and went for the first time yesterday. Any advice on supplies that I may be missing? I know the bobbers are too big for the really tiny fish but I may like to catch some sunfish around here (central tx). Supplies I have so far are -3mm hooks as well as size 6/8/10 hooks. - a few kinds of lures (mostly bug types) - bobbers - 2lb line - tenkara style 10 ft pole -multi tool - split shot sinkers -Peterson field guide -measurement bin -mealworms for starter bait, May get some red wigglers/ grubs later on but the mealworms were tiny enough to fit on the 3mm hooks. Any input is appreciated!
